I picked up the Dragon 1/35 Tiger I Initial Production #61001 at Admiral Toys today to go with my 61019.

Maybe it's my imagination, but details on this model seem really, really crisp. More than on the other Dragon 1/35 models I've collected.

Paint seems to be a little uneven regarding gloss/matte appearance. For example the muzzle brake is rather glossy and toyish. Residue on the muzzle brake doesn't seem dark enough. It does look unnaturally pristine, for some reason it just begs to have some dirt, mud and wear.

Haven't installed the little spikey thing on the turret.

Overall, pretty good, there are a few assembly spots that I don't know what to make of. Note: I discovered the areas in question were accurate to the original tank.

Some of the cables appear to be made from real strands of wire and look more realistic than the 61019. One problem though is the cable prevents the driver's hatch from opening completely.

I'm no expert on Tigers, and more familiar with the mid or late production models. Each Dragon model seems to be filled with lessons. This initial production version had quite a few surprises for me, the two little holes over the driver's visor, storage bin shape, modified and the exhaust covers.

Good details on the tank. After kicking up the contrast in PhotoShop on some of their photos, I'm going to agree with that website, that the 142 had a different color paint inside the outline.

I keep meaning to pick up one of the Dragon 1/35's but never seem to get around to it. I really need to as they look great. Do they make a Stug or Panzer III or IV?

No. 1/35 Dragon Armors are available in Tiger, King Tiger, Panther, Elefant and Morser Karl.

They are beautiful. But, they do not have that diecast “bulk” like FOV or Minichamps.

Tamiya Masterworks makes both a Pz IV H and StuG III in 1/35(assembled, painted with Fruil(metal tracks individual links and metal barrels)

The Tamiya are fantastic but big bucks and if I'm not mistaken they do not have the "bulk."

I've been really happy with Dragon 1/35. With two King Tigers and two Tiger I's, I'm feeling the need for a little more variety or Allied counterparts to put them in context. I'd like to see a Sherman and T-34 now.

The early and late production Tigers are distinctly different. I don't seem much variation in the King Tigers. The zimmerit on the front of their turrets is different, but that's about it (I guess).

Up until a couple of weeks ago all my armour was FOV.[all 10 pieces :D ]

I bought a Minichamps JagdPanther,and a Dragon Elefant.

The Minichamps was pretty good, and had a lot of "heft" to it.About what I was expecting.

The Dragon was really nice.Good detail, and great paint.A lot lighter as it is plastic,as opposed to metal.

Very impressed with my Dragon model.

but alot better detailed(The Dragons) vs FOV over-weather, over-accented paper-weights...which is really Model vs Toy.

As for the Tiger Es, yea there are alot of differances in a early and late(also there are mid productions models) as changes were made to make the AFV better in the field.

things you first notice are the rear deck filters, the wheels, and the turret copula, headlights, etc.
