Pics of the 1/32 Famemaster 4D Vision F-14

I signed up with photobucket and hope I can use them to post pics well.

Adding some more description. There's alot of different things to play with on this Cat. The radar can be positioned anywhere on the vertical axis for scanning (visible when raising the nose cone). The linkages on the main landing gears can be disassembled for closer inspection and easily re-installed. The struts themselves are made of a very dense hard plastic that makes this thing very sturdy on the gears. I was surprised. Not like BBI's F-18 and F-16's rubbery plastic. The fan blades and compressor pieces and plumbing on the engine can all come apart and easily re-installed. Most of plumbing and wiring is visible when you take off the panels for viewing. Main wings swing very smooth. The glove vanes work perfectly. Very flush when they are pivoted back into their slots. If you wanted to customize anything, every single piece and section can be taken apart to make it easy to paint something without masking. That's a nice feature. Also surprising is how flush the panels fit when you put them back. I was thinking that when you took it apart it would have gaps when you got it back together again. Wrong. Well engineered and worth every penny.

I have had a few email discussions with the R&D Director at Famemaster, Mr. Eastman Ting, and they are considering a F-16 like this and another repaint of the Tomcat. I strongly suggested to them that they should complete the rest of the teen series fighters with the F-15 and Hornet series. For that they said they would discuss too. I sent them the link to our forum for discussion. Hopefully they'll become members here!!

Militartytoyshop.com has the 1/32 F-14 at about $149.95.

No, but I expect when people are buying this beauty they're going to have dogfight sessions with their 21C A6M2 Zero.

Thanks for comments. Glad y'all like seeing them. I tell you it isn't like putting together one of our 32x or XD out of the box in a matter of minutes. Because of so many pieces and the incredibly detailed instructions, it will take on the average 2 hours to assemble. Took me 2 hrs 15 minutes.

Here's some tips on assembling.

You will have to completely disassemble the forward fuselage, canopy and all to get the cockpit tub, radar, landing gear bay, and nose cone in place. Then re-assemble it back. It's not hard. Just do it that way and nothing will break.

Do follow the build sequence of the instructions except for:

1. Do not put on the vertical tails as early as the instructions say to do. Put them on as the very last item. In order to get the landing gears on you will need to lay the plane on its back on a stack of cushioning...a big pillow is perfect. The tall tails will hinder your progress. But don't worry the vertical tails are the easiest thing to put on.
2. Same for the missiles and their racks/pylons. Put them on while she's on her back. You'll see why

Other than it's very fun to assemble and challenging in some places and soooo cool to see it coming together until it's finished. Considering the way every piece comes apart. This plane would make the perfect specimen for doing a maintenance diorama at let's say...NAS Oceana!!

I got mine from Military Toy Store for $149 without shipping but there was another etailer in another post/thread on this 1/32 forum that had them for $119 before shipping - look for the other thread for the link to the etailer.

Are the landing gears actually retractable? Also how durable/sturdy is this? It looks awesome. Do the parts stay on pretty well, as in, if you fly it across the room dogfighting other 1/32 aircraft, will all the removable parts stay on?
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle
