Tamiya 1:48 Scale Armor Questions

Anyone built any of the Tamiya 1:48 vehicles? I built a lot of Tamiya 1:35 armor back in the day but I haven't built a kit in years. I saw a few of these at my local hobby shop including a Hetzer for $20 that interested me but I wanted to know does the smaller size make them more difficult to build than 1:35? I imagine painting the rubber portions of the road wheels must be tricky if you don't have a steady hand. Also I notice they come with a metal lower hull which seems cool but how good is the overall detail on the kits?

Well, I used to build only 1/48 years ago (Bandai kits) and while some parts get pretty small I don't recall any real problems.

Of course, that was 30+ years ago. I don't think I'm up to it now (hurt my left hand pretty bad a couple years ago and I don't have full flex in my fingers - I'm left-handed).

the tracks are a PITA, but then I am a individual link(and of that group a "workable" links guy, if I can't make them do like they should then I hate 'em)

also the hulls are metal..which can be a pain in bonding, if working with just plastic cements..again not a big deal

Just saw the pre-built 1/48 Masterwork Steyr 1500/01(for 70.00) on squadron's new releases..and it's very nice..up there with my Masterwork 2nd Panzer, Pz IV H early in 1/35

Hmm.. interesting. I may look into some pre-built options.

I bought the Tiger I. It's still sitting in the corner due to those godawful tracks.
I'm tempted by some of the wheeled vehicles, but they are pricy.

the pre-built Hetzer, StuG III B and VW Kafer are some of the best in 1/48..oh and the Tamiya Hetzer does have it's MG.

Yeah I noticed the remote MG mount on the Hetzer. 8)

  Oh well, I think my hands are too damn shaky anyhow. I had a hell of a time applying some detail parts to a locomotive today.

Tiny parts become big problems as hands shake and eyesight dims.
