I have been looking at other scales and am wondering if hobbymaster's products are any good.
I am interested in the JS-2 tank in 1/48.
thanks

I'm anxious to know that on their AFV's.
My first experience with their planes was so, so. The quality was there in the parts, but the assembly was terrible and it was missing the emblem on the nose of the plane.

Until I see better work from them, I'll give them two and a half out of five stars.

Here's a link to a review and photos of the JS-2:
http://www.hobbymastercollector.com/HG1 ... ussia.html
I got the Hobbymaster 1/56 M1A1HA Abrams tank for my North Carolina model collection---the detailing is very impressive and is just as good as my Dragon 1/35 King Tiger, but HM adds more weathering on the Abrams. My only complaint about the Abrams is that 1/56 is too small.
I have 9 Hobby Master 1/72 aircraft and I would rate them as an "A" for overall details and workmanship.

The HM Shermans, King Tigers and JS-2s are all excellent in 1/48 scale.
I also have over 30 HM planes and none have had QC issues.

I have ordered from them many times without any problem. Once, Minichamps tank arrived broken. I had called and talked to Jennifer, and we made an amicable arrangement. Yes. their way of doing busniess is archaic. But, they do have great sale time to time.
Dragon53, I am just curious. Maybe I been lucky. What happen with them? I may learn and avoid possible future hassle.

TPARKHERE:
I ordered a 21st Century 1/18 F-86 from them. A month later, I got my credit card statement---Michigantoysoldier had added a second shipping fee to my order without notifying me. I emailed them and they told me my F-86 had a second shipping fee because it was a big model. I replied that there is no indication on their website that the F-86 came with a second shipping fee and they added the second fee without notifying me. They replied the second fee is mentioned in the fine print in their general order information.
I've ordered other 1/18 models that are bigger than the F-86 and nobody (ToysRUs, Target, Wartoyz, Monkeydepot, Pamsdream, Collectablejets, Trinketstotreasures) has ever charged me a second 'big model' shipping fee. Michigntoysoldier then offered me a discount--that's already available on their website anyway. I have never bought from them again. Others have told me of bad experiences with them and, like me, never bought them again.
I contested the second shipping fee with my credit card company, and they agreed with me and reimbursed me for it.

Dragon 53,
I agree. If a vendor charge me an extra shipping charge without prior notification, I would be pi**ed-off too. I have never ordered large items from them. I will keep the info in mind.
Well, back to 1/48 JS-2 discussion. I have many 1/72, 1/35 and 1/32 armors. But, I do not have 1/48 scale. I have many 1/72 Hobby Master planes and armors. They are excellent diecast. I have no doubt that 1/48 Hobby Master armors would also be an excellent diecast. BUT, do anybody else make 1/48 scale armors? I would hate to buy few Hobby Master 1/48 armors.

Yes, 21c actually made 1:48 scale armor. Most of it is not up to HobbyMaster's quality, but for the price it is not bad. In the WWII area, they have a Panzer IVH, Panzer IVD, Panzer 38T, Marder IIIM, Marder III sdk 139, and Flakpanzer IV Wirblewind. There are also smaller vehicles such as a Jeep, Kubelwagen, schwimmwagen, and WC-51. (I'm not sure if those were all exactly 1:48, but they're close). 21c also offered various types of modern Humvees as well.

tmanthegreat,
Thanks for the info about 21st Century 1/48 scale tanks.
I have been collecting 21st Century 1/32 scale armors. I never saw a vendor advertising 1/48 scale armors. It seems there are only limited amount of 1/48 scale armors. I do not want to start collecting another scale. Although, I may pick up couple of Hobby Master 1/48 King Tigers to display next to Franklin Mint 1/48 German planes.
Also, if I remember correctly, Tamiya makes 1/48 scale “Master Work” armors. They are beautiful. But, $80 per armor, I don’t think they are worth it.

NHoggard12,
Regarding place to buy 1/72 Dragon armors, I am going to assume that you are starting to collect them now.
http://www.petescollectibles.com/Dragon.asp
Petes Collectable has many Dragon Armors at a reasonable price. They usually go on sale every two months. When they are on sale, you can get many armors for $7-$10 each.
http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/c ... 1/72+stock
greatmodels.com During major holiday sale, all Dragon Armors goes on sale.
http://www.michtoy.com/MTSCnewSite/sale ... /sale.html
Michigan Toy. They sometimes have 30% off PLUS another 20% off sale
(Although some members had bad experience with dealing with this vendor, I had no problem.)
www.diecastairplane.com Some are on sale
http://www.wwiivehicles.com/dragon/default.asp
THIS IS NOT A STORE! But, you can print out list of all Dragon Armors. As you purchase them, you can cross them off the list. Very helpful site.
I would also recommend sign up with vendors. They will send you sale notification. I have one email address specifically for diecast collecting. Eventhough I have signed up with many vendors for more than 2 years, I have never received a spam on my email. Apparently, they all DO NOT share your email information.
I hope this helps. And welcome to the “addiction.” Dragon Armors will start to multiply like a bunny.

Another site to help you, specifically devoted to 1/72 scale die cast AFV's. Includes every manufacturer with pictures of most.

Ooops! My bad.
If you need to print the list of all Dragon Armors, use
http://www.diecast72.com
Printout using the above site gives you a clean, organized printout.
DO NOT USE print from
http://www.wwiivehicles.com/dragon/default.asp
For some reason, the list prints out all jumbled up.
Thanks Tshintl.
