I was at Show of Shows this weekend working for Steve Mormando of Belle & Blade video. Had a blast, met some great people and found some cool stuff. One of the exhibitors there was WEQUS out of Munich Germany. They produce customized model trains. Also, theyr main job is salvaging military equipment from the former Soviet bloc. They have some very cool stuff.

Cool. The Russians and Germans ran some pretty cool armored trains in WWII. Tank turrets, MG ports, the whole 9 yards. Wouldn't mind having one of those in HO!

Their main scal is HO. They had Leopold, V-1 cars, and a Stuka broken down on flat cars for shipment. Awesome.

Those cars have been out for a while. I think Lilliput made them. The armored trains are popular too. Tons of custom stuff out there though. I have HO DRG equipment but I have not done a layout since I moved 5 years ago. I am tinkering with N scale WW2 German era stuff now. I am cheating by using 21st 1:144 scale tanks on the flats. The scale difference isnt too noticable. It is a very popular era and style to model judging by the tons of DR equipment that has been introduced recently.

I have bought stuff from Steve and I pass his store everyday when I am running trains. He has an old Plymouth WW2 staff car in the parking lot. They have a great business and I highly recommend them when you are looking for war and war related movies.

Actually, the railway gun is one of those cheapie Model Power US Army cannons. It originally had four AAR standard style trucks so I removed them and installed a set of eight wheel trucks I kitbashed from a few wrecker trucks I had laying around. I installed the european couplers and buffers and painted panzer grey with weathering.

The locomotive is a Piko 2-10-2, again a cheapie model and I camo painted it with panzer yellow and some green and brown blotches. The lettering was on the black painted model originally, so I simply masked over the lettering and data before painting the camo. The germans often did this with the locomotives they camoflaged.

One of these days, I will get enough nerve to camo some of my Roco and Fleischmann locomotives.

I have a book in German text called the German National Railways during WW2, a pictorial book for the most part. It has been a good source for modeling ideas...

Thanks! I often see the Model Power cannons at Hobbytown USA. They are probably in the Walthers catalog too...
