Hey Graycap?

Post by gk5717 » Fri Apr 01, 2005 12:14 pm

I,ve noticed a couple of figures in a bubble pack showing up on ebay from sellers in the UK. They are "Soldiers of the British Empire" and are apparantly done by K&C.
Do you have any knowledge of them?
Thanks, Gary

They are new to me. At present Del Prado are running two model soldier series over here. The first is a rerun of their "Soldiers of the 20th Century" with Osprey providing a booklet and K&C producing the figure.

The second venture is a diorama of the Battle of Waterloo - again with booklets by Osprey and some very nice painted 25mm figure from K & C. Eventually this will build up to a collecton of about 200 figurines covering the infantry, cavalry, artillery and commanders of the British (and asociated allied forces), the Prussians and the French.

The snag about all these part work series is that Newsagents (the only outlet) demand formal orders after the first couple of issues and I know a number of collectors in the UK have had terrible problems in ensuring a regular supply of the figures from Del Prado. Also the first few figures are fairly cheap but then usually double in price from then after. Del Prado usually preceeds such part works with a massive TV advertising campaign but I've seen nothing about the series you mention.

I just won the 2 figures from ebay, #1 24th foot, #2 11 Hussers. I will post what they look like when I receive them.
I have the 1st run of the DelPrado soldiers, what a pain that was as I had to get everyone of them thru people in the UK.
Sure wish Andy would do a specialty set here in the USA.
