I have the 32x S1 Marder which appears to have a sand base color. All of the S2s that I see on ebay look like the exact same cammo scheme. Whats the difference between the two? Looks like the base color might be more green than sand on the S2 but I can't tell from the photos.

hello, S1 S2 and so on just denote a new paint scheme or a smal variation in vehicle style. i believe they are up to an S4 in the marder now. think of it like A B C ect..

Understand all that. Just want to know what the actual difference is between S1 and S2 on the Marder.

I have both on hand, out of box.

I will attempt to detail them as best as possible. I'm sure you're meaning the Marder III Sdkfz. 139, and not the IIIM as the S2 on the IIIM is quite different than it's S1.

Here goes: The S1 is a bit darker in tone, with the base being more of a dark tan, and the camo application being a dark grey. It also has 10 or 11 kill rings on the barrel.

The S2 has a similar base coat, but appears to be lighter, more sand colored. The camo application on the other hand is more of a blue-ish light grey. It also has the name Heidei painted on the left side in yellow, to the left of the cross. Also I think S2's tracks are rusted by default, but very well done, and lightly. I can't compare to my S1 because I mudded out my tracks on it.

The best I could do, hope this helps.

Also, the camo apps are almost exactly the same, kind of mottled in large patches, with the lighter color being the smaller, web-like area.

Thanks Alloyskull! The exact info I was looking for. It was hard telling the difference just from looking at photos of the S2. 21st usually does completely different paint schemes between the S1 and S2.

No problem man. I know what you mean, even in-store I'd have to pick one up and look for a second to tell them apart. :D
