OK, so Target test marketed 21C this year. The question is was it a success to the degree that they will carry the product line into all their store, or not?

Never saw 21C at Target. :(

Kim, all the Targets in Pierce and Thurston county have FOV and I have seen the new releases at all of them. Come on down south if you can beat the snow. :D

I'm doubtfully hopeful.
I think it's a good idea that Target already carries FOV to open the door for 21st, which comparatively in the 1:32 scale price is less than FOV.
I just bought a 1:32 Elefant today for $26, but that was well worth it. I didn't mind buying the Deuce 1/2 the other day, because it's also the first one in that scale.

I think they need to be selective about what they carry so they don't have too many shelf and peg warmers.

Now if they did an exclusive color scheme like I thought they were doing with "Double Nuthin" and the FW, I'll bet they would sell every one of them if halfway nice.

I'm hoping it translates to some 1:18 vehicles too like FOV.

My local Targets only ever got two of the Panzer 38T repaints and they were immediately discounted. Never ever saw any of the other figures, vehicles, planes or play sets. I take that to be a poor showing and indicative of the fact that Target really does not want to carry 21c products. They do, after all, have lots of FOV items and those, at least at my local Targets, tend to sell slowly. It would not be wise to add more fuel to the fire, so to speak. That, and 21c tends to be unreliable with getting certain items out on time.

Stuff Never showed up at my local Targets. But I was glad to get a few of the items from a board member.

the double nuthins and new fw's have dissapeared at the only two targets where I've found 21st stuff at- in marietta and hiram- only items left are chinese figure sets, US artillery crews, and the 38t repaints. But, at least the fw and double nuttin have shown at local walmart 4 of each or so (green box) for those locals who missed em the first time around at target.

I voted yes for Target... It seems like a logical choice.
Although, I never saw any 21C at Target, I'm hopeful that they will sell just as well as they did at WM.

Think of it... 21st Century's latest run were Mustangs, Spitfires and FW-190A/F.
I think if 21C leads off with repaints of those, they should be OK.

Call me optimistic... :D

I voted NO. NOw for my reasoning:

1) 21C distribution and manufacture are/have been too spotty to handle nationwide service to Target, TrU and Wal-Mart.
2) Target will not want to rely on a manufacturer that is one of Wal-Marts vassals.
3) 21C has too small a consumer base to support Target making a major investment in the line, especially considering WM & TrU as rivals for customers.
4) Target is having fiscal problems right now and cannot afford to make new commitments to less than totally reliable vendors.

probably not going to happen...

The 21C stuff never showed up at any Target that I visited in the midwest - did these hit the southeast only?

Anyway, I don't see the national distribution via Target. I would LOVE to see a better source of 21C but I don't think it will happen because;
1) 21C has a poor distribution system and can't seem to consistently supply product - what nation-wide sales manager wants that headache?
2) 21C has reportedly had financial problems - it would be hard for them to ramp up production to meet the needs. They need not only current items but new items
3) Target, like any mass marketer, would stock them as long as sales are good. Sales fall and the line would be dropped like a hot rock. Mustangs and Tiger tanks are proven sellers, too many Maichi 202s sitting on the shelves and the local buyers won't reorder.

Personally I am quite PO'd because the Target test run had the US artillery crew figure/ammo sets and they never came to my area. I want several extra sets of gunners and 155 shells and can't seem to find any. Typical 21C handling - I think my granddaughter could distribute more effectively than these guys!
