I am thinking about getting a 1/48th scale A-10 Warthog made by Franklin Mint. Anyone have one of these? It looks nice in the pictures. Thanks for the help.

I have one and like it quite a bit. Its a very heavy model so you have to be careful not to grab it by the ordinance when you lift it.

I have several Franklin Mint models (Bong P-38, B-17 Flying Fortress, F-15E Strike Eagle and F-117 Night Hawk) and I have two Hobby Master 1/72 A-10 Thunderbolts , two F-4 Phantoms, one A-4 John McCain and a George Bush TBM Avenger. The Franklin Mint models have one advantage---they are big. The Hobby Master A-10 models are small, but they have far better detail and up/down landing gear. I prefer Hobby Master over Franklin Mint.

How is the detailing on the Bong p-38?

Definitely get it. I have a Franklin Mint 1/48 A-10 and it is a great looking model. Like Jericoeagle said, it is heavy though.
I also have three of the Hobbymaster 1/72 A-10s and they are awesome. The landing gear options, detail, and ordinance options make it a real winner in my book. Money well spent.
Only drawback to all of the above is that I wish they were 1/18!!!
Ahhh...maybe someday...

AMERICAN_GRENADIER:
The FM Bong P-38 "Marge" detailing is typical of an FM model---only fair with no pilot and fixed landing gear. Also, it has a hole in the nose. I asked about this on the diecast message board and all Marge owners said their models also have the hole and have no idea why it's there.
The Marge nose art is very good---the ONLY reason I bought the FM Marge is because it is Bong's plane and it was on sale for $40. I have the 21st Century 1/18 P-38 California Cutie and I like it a lot better than the FM Marge.
Here are reviews (not by me) of 2 Franklin Mint A-10 and the Bong P-38 Marge:

Dragon53, thanks for that link. The Franklin Mint A-10 does look like a nice model.
