A sad day at my Wal-Mart.

First let me say I miss the 1 1/2 years I spent working in southern California a couple of years ago becasue of all the WM's, Targets, and TRU's I had access too. There were so many, I would eventually find what I was looking for.
That said, a few days ago I drove to my local WM. Here in Texas, local means a 30 minute drive. And thats not in traffic but at 70 mph on open road. Thought about going on to the next WM but that was another 50 miles away. Anyway, for the first time since 21st and FOV hit the shelves years ago, there was nothing. Not one plane, soldier, or vehicle of any kind (excluding GI Joe, tons of that). They seldom had what I wanted but at least there was ususally something to pick up and look at. No more! A sad day indeed.

I feel your pain, been there, done that. It has been like this around here now for going on six months or so, nada... zero...

Fortunately I've still got a whole section brimming to the gills. But my other WM is pretty much a one foot wide section... =/
I'm sorry to hear of that. It's depressing.

I have several within a good drive from me, but the only "new" thing I've seen in the past several months has been a pile of Shermans and some Opels at one store. Plenty of the 1/144 armor, though.

Right now it seems like "feast or famine" in my AO. Some Walmarts clearanced out all their stuff and never restocked anything, while others are overflowing in 21st stuff..

Don't give up hope hotrodrock... I went to WM Saturday morning early to get some more staples so I could get the wife's Christmas lights up. While there I thought what the heck and meandered over to the toys section just to see if possible something new had showed up. Sure enough there was the same 2 red 19 190's and 2 Spits that had adorned the shelf for weeks. I figured oh well and started to head out. I noticed this clerk that was scanning the shelves and I stopped to ask her if they were "ever" going to get any new airplanes in. She followed me over and scanned the tag and said it showed 6 cases in the back and it even told her where they were at. I asked if she could check and she said okay just give her a few minutes. She later returned with 6 boxes in a basket And opened the first one to have 2 red 19's...

the next box had 2 double nuthin's

, the next had 2 Berlin Express

, the next was a dinged up box with 2 Shangri-la's

, the next had 2 Spits

, and the last had 2 Miss Bonnie's

. I felt like I had hit the jackpot. I went in not even thinking about planes and ended up walking out with 8. Saturday was the best and biggest surprise I have had in a long time as far as finding any items.
Just never give up, you just might get lucky and it makes all the empty trips seem to fade away, even if only for a while.
Like warhawker asked, What part of Texas are you in ?

Wonder why they were sitting in the back at this time of year? If you had not stumbled across them they might still be sitting there months from now or some employee would have finally found them and they would have went straight to the discount isle. I think thats how half the stuff thats on the discount isle ends up there.

I know how you feel about the XD situation at WM. I have two local WM's that stopped carrying XD alltogether for several months now and it looks like they will never restock them again.

Yeah, I walked into a local WalMart yesterday and they didn't have a single 21st item... any scale. They just were not carrying the brand

There is no consistency from one WM store to the next.

I think there is consistency from one WM to another WM.
If you're a CORPS fan. This stuff is in EVERY WM I've been to! EVEN when I'm on vacation in another state!! And I've noticed that it's not because no one is buying them, when their spot on the shelf starts getting low, MORE show up very soon. Lanard is on the ball!!

Okay.
Some things are consistent.
They also all have underwear.

...and obnoxious FLOURESCENT LIGHTING.
But they do not all have white floors. I have been in one in Sealy, Texas (IIRC) that had red stone-looking floors.
It was the most incredible, peaceful Wal-Mart ever. Even the kids were quiet...

One in Conover has brown-stained concrete.
Another has gray stained concrete.
The one in Morehead City has sky lights.
But the one in Morganton has none of the above.

YES YES YES
I wear shorts, generally, all of the time. My wife made me buy a pair of those and they are wonderful!! Great pants. Though a bit heavy.
Very cozy.

Yes. A belt is definitely called for.
Wifey is taking me on a Church jaunt this evening and I will be wearing my flannel pants.
