$5 foot longs..I mean FoV Elefant?? I'll take it!

Post by Cabe » Fri Nov 28, 2008 12:03 pm

Looky what I found at target this morning

Image

I saw it and my jaw dropped
it was sitting in a stack of other 1:32 above a shelf sticker saying unimax 1:32 vehicles $25
and so I scanned it as I always do at walmart and target in case of any errors, I was still buying it of course. I mean my own elefant to repaint?? Without over painting an enthusiast version?
For $25? I'll take it.
I tried scanning it and the Target scanner said "error item not entered"
So I went up front with my other purchases grimacing at spending $25 during this rough time so close to xmas
Well it didn't scan. So she asked
"Do you know how much this is?"
I said no, I have never seen one before and it's the only one back there like it"
all true, and I didn't know for sure its price because I have never seen one before and at one target an action stug can be $20 and another $25.
So she called over a manger, who took it away to figure it out. I paid with my gift card for what I had yet to ring up and caught up with her. He kept trying hard to get a price. Finally she got one.
She said " Well this is an item we are discontinuing, so it priced down and might be marked to send back as defective, but that's just an error,. I don't see it broken just going to be discontinued. The price here says it $4.98"

!!! silent unexpressed joy!!!

"Do you still want it?"

"Uh sure I'll take it."

"You sure?"

"yes, I am. "

so I walked out of Target with a $5 Elefant action series for me to paint and save me about $60 buying an Enthusiast.

wow, what a good day and got better as it went along. Jeez
Elefant...action series all ready for a weathering paint job...
drool

and yes I can scan the receipt for proof

I would go check all your Targets local to you and scan any elephants you see. The barcode saying to mark it $5 may be in the Target computer nationwide

The back of the box also showed an action, US duce and a half and king tiger out there somewhere.

Son of a @#$%^!

Good find. You just might be able to talk me into venturing out today yet. Not likely since my area has nothing new (despite builing and opening a new Target), but I'll keep trying.

Let's put it this way, this elefant wasn't there a week ago. It just "appeared"
Its a super target near my house i go to all the time and nothing changes.
I checked 3 others around town ,after i got that elefant, to see if they had new stuff marked wrong...zilch. Nothing even interesting, just the usual s2 marders, camo shermans, FW, double nothins, Chinese inf, artillery figure sets, 1:18 Bradley and shermans, awful FoV figs and 1/48 items

but there was a camo M1 Abrams that was enthusiast in an action series box. It was definitely enthusiast, figure and all was weathering and hit with washes...it was $25

A few months ago I went to a Target looking for the FOV 1/32 M5A1 Stuart, but couldn't find one. As I was leaving, out of the corner of my eye I saw an M5A1 with a bunch of unrelated toys--for $5 and it was the last one. I've seen the M5A1 sell for $30-$35 online--which doesn't include shipping.

The enthusiest never came to my hobbyshop either.

* Probably just a ghost. I had one of those puppets when I was a kid. "Casper the friendly ghost". :D

......... no but seriously , that's almost ridiculous. Everybody deserves to get lucky sometime or another though.
Lord knows , I've had my share of breaks. Ya' never know what yer' gonna' run into on Safari .

weird how sometimes the action version can be more rare than the enthusiast. If I wanted an enthusiast Deuce Truck or Elefant I can log onto my seller right now and buy it. Now if I wanted an action version I wouldn't know what to do but drive in circles

Don't bother, unless the Visalia Targets have better selections than in Fresno. (That is always a possibility  ) I've only seen new modern FOV vehicles - the Baghdad 2003 M2 Bradley and the Baghdad 2003 Abrams in the woodland cammo. Both were, however, the Enthusiast grade 8)

They are at the Herndon & Willow and Riverpark Targets in Fresno, if you are interested.
