King and Country Cavalry

Post by Sniper73 » Tue Mar 22, 2005 1:55 pm

Hi guys,

So I got my first NIB K&C today, a helmeted wermacht soldier riding a white horse. I saw it in a shop in NYC when I just went in to browse and decided to get it since they are retired and I havent seen that one available all that much. I've been looking around as per the advice of several of you guys and trying to get the retired or soon to be retired sets first. It's really a great piece and the guys at the store were very friendly and helpful (Classic Toys). What do you guys think about the cav that have seen or own some of them?

K&C Cavalry

I have the entire Cavalry set and must say they are great. They display nicely together. Having one soldier reporting recon and pointing to a distance point, the lead officer halting the group while the others look on. Great set. When these were retired I heard it mentioned that other cavalry sets would be following but no further info on that since. I'd say continue picking these up if you can particularly if you can get them at retail.

German Cavalry

After first noticeing K&C at the 2001 OTSN, I began checking websites for further pictures, info etc. I was strickly a plastic collecter for the past 10 years so I went back and forth whether I should get into metal.
Well one day I checked K&C,s site and there were the German mounted, right then and there I decided to collect K&C. Althought my first purchases were not the cavalry that is the set that convinced me to start buying K&C.
I would not hesitate to long on this set as it,s been retired about a year now so you may soon be paying premium prices.
I kinda feel sorry for you newbies as there is so much to catch up on. But unfortunately the stuff will not be getting any cheaper. I remember passing on a winter tiger early on thinking I,ll get it later, well now you never ever see them and I,m still looking, tho the price now would be out of my ballpark.
About that same time I did buy a winter sherman which I later found out was a special order from one dealer and not many were made.

retail

Yes, I asked before I bought obviously, and he said they were all retail (around $56). I picked up this one (the officer halting everyone) since I haven't seen it really. The other two he had were guys with just caps and I had seen both around so I figured get the officer first.

Just so you know, there are more officers at his store (at least one, I think more) if anyone needs them. If your not in NYC let me know and I can pick it up for you if you need it.
