Entire 1997 CDC 1/72 Catalog posted at Mike's Tanks

Post by GI GENE » Sun Mar 20, 2005 12:38 pm

Mike posted the entire 1997 CDC catalog at his site:

Even though its a shame that the 2.5 Ton trucks, US Halftracks, and the Opel Blitz trucks were never released, we can always wish that Dragon or FOV will release better detailed and cheaper versions of their own.

In a few weeks I hope to get scans of the 1998 Catalog up as well. Meanwhile....enjoy! :D

Some very neat pieces were modelled but never released from that collection. Of course, I love the Tigers, but check out the Opel Blitz with the AA guns!

CDC Armor catalog

Post by fullyautomatic » Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:34 pm

I'm a little confused. What year did CDC go belly up?The reason I'm asking is that if they put out a catalog with all those pieces in 1997 and then followed with a 1998 catalog it seems a little odd that they would have been listed and not already made.
Over the years I have picked up approx half a dozen of their tanks and was really impressed with the overall quality and weight.Fortunately I did not pay the $30 or so price that was attached to them. Now a days the German pieces seem to be going for what the 1st edition Dragon Wittman Tiger is going for.Like it has been suggested in the past I hope Matchbox can start reproducing some of the other pieces that were never made.Someone find the molds please!!These were to good not to be made.

I was actively collecting all of the CDC armor as it was coming out. Just like Dragon, they were behind in their releases. CDC kept going after '98, they simply discontinued their armor line and didn't bother producing the items going back to the '97 catalog. Sometime after that they sold the molds to Matchbox. Too bad that didn't go to Franklin Mint as well, since they might have been more aggressive about releasing the unproduced molds. I really wanted that Stuka zu Fuss. I still managed to pick up one each of everything they put out. I had dupes of a lot of it and did well selling those on eBay last year and did have a Panther go at over the $150 mark, though I had a couple of Humvees that I couldn't give away.

Does anyone remember what year CDC sold the aviation line to the Franklin Mint?
