Couple of great 1/48 plane acquisitions!

Post by hotrodrock » Fri Oct 31, 2008 10:57 am

Got a couple of good buys off ebay. A Franklin Mint Heinkel He 111 in desert camo for $26.40 and a Franklin Mint B26B Marauder in the English "Dominion Revenge" paint scheme for $20.57. New, never displayed, still in the boxes. Them suckers are heavy! I love those planes but I just can't afford the $120 price tag for new ones directly from the Mint. The twin and four engines planes are genrealy more than I want to pay even on ebay. Okay, so I'm a cheapskate.

Damn dude, nice finds. I bet they're frickin' huge, even for 1/48!

Nice find. I too have thought of turning to FM for twin and four engine planes in 1/48. Only the price has stopped me.

I had 2 FM P-38's and they were both lemons. All that cash for water slide decals which were flaking off straight out of the box and nose gear that broke and collapsed after sitting untouched on the shelf for two days. Another hobby shop in town has all sorts of 1:48 FM aircraft but I won't touch 'em.

I have 3 P-38s and they are all fine, I don't know why some folks have bad luck.

BTW, I have the FM B-26 Marauder "Flak Bait" and will entertain offers to buy if someone is interested.

People I've talked to either love 'em or hate 'em. I just feel the finish and overall quality just isn't worth the price.
