Small Scale Military Headquarters

Got my Elefant in the mail today. Not sure why it is considered to be Enthusiast grade unless it is becasue it has a couple of accessories with it. No figures as other members have already pointed out. There is no weathering to speak of. A tiny bit on the road wheels and front mud flaps. Otherwise there is no weathering at all. FOV seems to have a hard time getting their weathering techniques correct. Either too much or none. If it was the Action grade, I could understand the lack of any weathering. I still like it, just would have like to have seen it at Action grade price for what you are getting.

Agreed, from the pictures I've seen, it looks to be Action grade, and not really (to me) worth the money. As much as I'd love an Elefant, I can see myself buying the Sd. Kfz. 7/1 AAA half-track Enthusiast before this. Now that thing looks battle ready!

It's wierd that 21C's Marders and 38ts are my favorite AFVs in my collection. My FOV stuff doesn't come close...

The two 21st Marders are certainly not as heavy as the FOV releases but they do have excellant detail for much less cost.

Yeah, or they could come up with Uber-Entushiast grade and give you weathering, 27 cats, 12 barrels, one soldier, a commander, and 39, yes, THIRTY NINE jerry cans.

Action grade would give you the special experimental "no-barrel" version of the Elefant!

No weathering....if that's what it takes to keep costs down.

how much is the FOV?

Compared to the while smaller but better made/painted DML 1/35 prebuilts..how would you say the compare?

Got mine today & compared to Dragon 1/35 Elefant its a lot better value for your money & the hatches open
Mine the Enthusiast grade one & can't see what your moaning about as the paint job & the extras are fine

Moaning about the price of it since in the past, the Enthusiast grade was supposed to mean it had all of the bells and whistles as compared to the Action grade. I do not consider a cat and a couple of bottles of wine and no weathering as bells and whistles. I have never been impressed by the pre-built Dragon models considering what they cost. The hatches open on both the Action and Enthusiast models so there again thats nothing special when comparing the two. If it comes to Target for instance in Action grade, it will probably run around $40. The cat and bottles are not worth the extra $20 just because it says Enthusiast on the box. Moan, moan!

Waiting for the Elefant and deuce to come to Target in action grade is all well and good, but if the Target stores in my AO are any indication from past experience, you could be waiting a very long time... like forever.

So this was 60$ plus shipping and handling...mm

my Dragon Panther G, King Tiger and Elefant all cost me 64.00 shipped(same FL vendor), only my Tamiya Masterwork Pz IV H was more but it has Fruilmodel tracks, metal barrel, AA MG34 and it's has a opening hatch. So other than Hatches, Zimm and a Cat, I don't see the point of going for the FOV thing IMO Esp if FOV continues with their standard no weathering or we shall wash it black..

Sorry but I'm not one of those "hey man at least they gave us a 1:32 Deuce and Elefant, quit your bitching and hail the mighty FOV gods!" type of guys. I'm not going to pay Enthusiast grade prices for vehicles that look like Action series models even if they do come with a kitty.

If this is FOV's new standard then it looks like I will be collecting 1:35 from now on.

that's where I got the amount..from reading a member's post of the thing..I assumed 60$(40+20 is still 60 I hope). Sorry Fuzzymath got me.

What IS the msrp of the Elefant? since IIRC now Ent. Grade is only going to online vendors(like motorpool) or Hobbyshops and retailers like Target/TRU get action grade.

Got mines today in the mail.
Impressive piece!!! Not only because of its size (made my Panzer IV look like a Marder), but also because of the detail and quality: nice details on the hatches, decent Zimmerit, great great paint. I'm talking great based on previous pieces: this one is even, flat. Wheels are weathered; no washing this one for me, the weathering is fine.
Highs: good paint, Zimmerit, opening hatches, nice running gear all the way through, good touch with the removeable mudflaps.
Lows: light, barely any metal content, no base, deserted by crew, non-moving gun lock.
Wonderful in my opinion: worth the wait and money? Definitely for me. Can't say the same for the Deuce though. But for the effort put into this, a piece done in times of financial trouble, the workmanship is awesome.

Gun, everything above the hull line is metal. Everything else is plastic.
Fine by me, because plastic means finer details IMO.

FOV has a long history of "Enthusiast" grade models with lousy weathering. LAV, Stuart, Lee, the list goes on. For that reason alone I prefer the "Action" grade. I have plenty of jerry cans at this point. If only I could get my hands on another 50 or so brick walls though.
