Hello Gang,
I am curious since I do not own any Fov items, how is the quality of fov pieces? I just bought a load of 21st century planes and tanks. I like them but I am used to a product called diecast being metal, everything is plastic. And one other thing, I was saying that I thought fov somewhat seem to have a grip on the collectible side of this market!!! SCRATCH THAT, I called fov this morning and they are just clueless, that couldn't tell me shit. I have been collecting less than one week and knew more about their product than they knew. WTF? how is that possible? But of course I have learned most of what I know to this point from you guys but at least I am taking the time to learn, you would think these companies would at least know a little about their products, all they could tell me is that the products were made in hong kong!! lol, and I am not kidding, I laughed because I was thinking I didn't ask where they were made, but that was the extent of the knowledge I gained by talking to Fov.

I have been putting my planes together (21st C) and thinking I probably should keep the boxes in good shape. Anybody know how hard it would be to unasemble and repack the planes into the box for storage if I need to do so?

There are two sides to the FOV market:

The "Action" edition is sold at big box stores like TRU, Target and in the past under the Motorworks brand at WM. Not all of the FOV releases have been done in the Action series; mainly their S1 releases, Allied AC, US WWII and modern armyand their 1/72 scale stuff. Quality ranges from pretty good on the modern armor to very toylike on the figures and (I think) S1 Stug III. These come with minimal accessories. Sometimes you can score by finding "Enthusiast" releases packaged as "Action".

The "Enthusiast" version is much more detailed, weathered and come with many more accessories. You will find these on line and at specialty shops. I would caution you that on many of the newer releases (Stuart, M-3 halftrack, Lee/Grant and modern releases I feel the detail doesn't warrant the extra $30-40. On many of their releases the quality is absolutely beautiful. I think their PZIV-D, Challenger, T-34 and Pershing are abolute works of art and worth every penny. Just my two cents worth.

Check out the e-tailers with actual photos and you will be able to tell what is worth the money. Hope this helps.

To answer your second post, as long as you don't glue the planes together or glue parts on, they come apart easily and are just as easily repackaged. I do it all the time...

Actually one of the beauties behind 21c's packaging. Most the the planes (and tanks) are very easy to re-insert into their packages and made to look nearly MIB even though they had been previously displayed. Over all, I am not really a fan of the way 21c packages their aircraft as the wires often cause damage to the aircraft if not handled properly in the factory assembly and shipping processes. Still, they make for easy repackaging and storage
