I see that Bad Cat has the latest repaint of the FOV P-39 called "Devistating Devil" I like the paint scheme, and the black prop and spinner. I think I will order one today.

I saw that one (Rather nice) and the FOV 109G-6 painted as one of Hartmann's birds. I'm sad to see that Unimax hasn't re tooled it in order to get rid of the ship sized rivets. :(

Good luck on your purchase. Hopefully you won't get one with bad QC.

The Hartmann Bf-109 looks rather nice. I like the color of the P-39. But don't you think both are somewhat expensive?
I think the rivets add authenticity :P .

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for rivets on my planes, just not the kind seen on FOV's aircraft. There is a good side to this though; If you buy the aircraft, you won't have to worry about it slipping out of your hand.

Looks nice but I wouldn't touch another 1:32 FOV aircraft with a ten foot pole.

I was thinking about getting this P-39 model myself. Can any of you guys who got the first FOV P-39 model give me your opinions on it?

The new P-39 paint scheme is interesting. Its not bad, but I think I still prefer the original scheme. The black propeller looks nice

As for opinions on the FOV P-39, it is one of the best planes FOV has released in 1:32. Lots of detail and moving parts, but no over-sized rivets and inaccurate features. The paint scheme for the S1 version is spot-on accurate to the real plane, save the white prop blades. The landing gear do not retract, but are optional positioned like most 1:72 scale planes. The engine covers are somewhat difficult to get on and off. The cockpit is detailed and has a nice pilot figure, but it cannot be removed. Lots of diecast in the construction, including the wings and fuselage. Some of the early FOV P-39s tended to have QC defects, but then FOV seemed to rectify them. The version I got was perfect.

An interesting selection to produce, the Airacobra. I was thinking FoV would produce a more well-known plane, like the FW-190 or the Zero? Their paint schemes are interesting too: instead of painting them in US service in the Pacific, why not depict them in Lend-Lease Service? The Russians used P-39's to great effect. What does Forces of Valor have against producing models of Soviet military hardware?

Get one of the P-39's on this page and don't look back. That is if you are willing to put some work into it. Otherwise stick with the FOV P-39 because no body else makes one. http://www.rollmodels.net/standard/catalog.htm
I have the first P-39 kit on the page and the detail is absolutely fantastic, and the prices are in the same ball park.

rollmodels is great, I found some OOP stuff there I'd figured I'd have to send a leg or 1st born for..for a couple bucks.

Only thing I couldn't get I wanted was Dragon's Old Panhard armoured car with the frame antenna...but IIRC Masterbox is going to make one soon and a Panhard with a 5cmL42 or L60 as a SPG(Fixed gun)
