Finally, the pride and joy of my collection
S2 Panther, converted to a Befehlspanther (hence my name), from Target.com....I think it looks awesome.
21c King Tiger, etailer
XD Tiger I Winter, etailer
And a mixed bag of 32x planes, along with a FoV Mustang
Most models were converted to make them more "kit grade."
Notice the many Target purchases; my SF AO Targets have served me well, by leaving Enth. pieces in lowly boxes.
Do you guys often have such luck often? Because if Target continues this practice we get lots more for much less.
Just wanted to introduce to you my collection. Again, thanks everyone for a warm welcome. I'm very glad to be here.

Which did you convert the S2 Panther into, Sd.Kfz.267 or Sd.Kfz.268?

Sd.Kfz.267, the tactical command tank. Used the flexible antenna from an old Dragon Tiger kit; the Tiger was built as a standard combat tank and the antenna set was unused. Three antennae were attached: one on the standard mound on the port side, one on the armored pot on the engine deck, and one on the starboard side mount on the turret, just aft and left of the cupola. Normal Befehlspanther just mounted 2 antennae, but most were non-standard, and 3 looked better than 2. I used the photos from "Panther," a book from Concord's Armor at War Series. Great reference material. I also used spare track links and turret hooks to cover the orginal tac number. At the turret rear I applied the number "02" for the unit's adjutant's tank. I also switched the track links on the aft hull; those original links were 1/4 inch thick. Metal tow wires were added to both forward loops, and a camo net was draped over the gun. Kill rings were also added, extra spare roadwheel mounted on starboard rear turret panel. Upgraded anti-aircraft machine gun mount also added. Fixed the wacked-out gun mantlet too. Additional weathering was also applied. This project used up at least 8 hours. The 267 was more common in the battlefield, as Luftwaffe tactical air support became increasingly scarce. There was actually a photo depicting the number 215 Panther, knocked out in a field in Czechoslovakia. A great model to work with, and a reasonable price: forty dollars with free shipping.

That infrared device on the 268 would make for a cool conversion though, wouldn't you think?

I thought the Sd. Kfz. 268 was the ground-to-air liason Panther?
The night-fighting devices were fitted on standard fighting tanks, I think. I built the Dragon kit featuring an Ausf. G with the infrared, but painting it proved difficult, particularly becuase there were virtually no authentic colored photos available. So, it's sitting somewhere in my cabinet waiting a coat of paint. The infrared on a standard Forces of Valor Panther would be stunning. I e-mailed them already requesting that this model be made...along with an IS-2 and an M-10, but they said they will just keep those ideas for future references. :? But I read that infrared Panthers were used in Pomerania? So a Panther fighting in Czechkoslovakia would not be suitable. Yeah, that would be an awesome idea. Maybe if they made an Uhu hanomag? A gift set would be stunning.
