I won an auction for a NIB P-47M Tarheel Hal.
I opened it as soon as it arrived.

I looked at the box and noticed that the seal was broken on the propeller-side of the box.
As I removed the plane from the box my excitement dissolved into disappointment.
Besides the tape/seal being broken, the plastic tray (with accessories) looked like it had been sitting in a workshop next to a table saw.
The plane had a coat of shelf dust and REEKED of Cigarette smoke.
The Pilot and antenna were missing, there was a paint chip on engine cowl, and the rear stabilizers were loose in box

And to add insult to injury....
Some [knuckle] head decided to insert an electric motor into the plane. Oh yea... he cut down the wing tabs so they don't lock into place and he drilled holes in the side for a power adapter.

Keep in mind the seller has over 1,400 (100%) positive feedback so I thought there might be something I was missing.
So I e-mailed him and told my issues with the plane.
He mentioned that he received the P-47 and a P-51B in a deal and thought both were NIB... well at least the P-51 was. :?

He was very understanding and I received a full refund (incl. shipping).
Now I own a POS P-47 Tarheel Hal that needs to be disinfected... or just needs to be put out of it's misery.

Funny you should mention that.
...Yes, it does.

Curiosity got the best of me.
I found a multiple voltage adapter and plugged it in, starting on low...
After upping the voltage the prop spun slowly and starting picking up speed.
After a while, I started to smell the adapter burning. Whew!... what a rank smell.

Burnt hair/skin and Circuit boards are the worst smells.

I unplugged it and that was that.
The plane is still "intact" and still reeks of cigarette smoke.

Time to break out the Hazmat cleaning kit.
