Indiana Jones Vehicles for the Smaller Scales

Post by tmanthegreat » Mon Jul 07, 2008 4:24 pm

I thought some of the smaller scale fans might be interested this find that I came across today - the Titanium Series Indiana Jones vehicles made by Hasbro:

Image

I only picked up part of the set, and there are three more vehicles including Mutt Williams on his motorbike, the swamp cutter vehicle, and the Area 51 rocket sled. These are largely more detailed than the Star Wars vehicles in the Titanium series. Better yet, many of the IJ vehicles fwork well with existing scales between 1:32 and 1:144. Here's a few detailed comparison shots for those interested:

Indy and Henry Jones Sr on bike. Both figures are removable & are about 1:35-1:32 scale. The FOV 1:32 scale Zundapp motorcycle is there for comparison.
Image

German truck, dragging Indy. The truck seems almost perfectly 1:72 scale, as the 1:72 Panther and figure show. the truck has a detailed cab, and the canvass top comes off to reveal the crate containing the Ark.
Image

Mark VII tank. Not sure what scale this would be. Its too small for 1:72 and too large for 1:144. The turret rotates and the side guns traveerse. It rolls on wheels.
Image

The Flying Wing. This would probably work with 1:144 scale; that is the scale of the Stuka sitting next to it. Judging from the film prop, the wing wasn't all that big of a plane.

I was in a rush taking these pics, and didn't get a comparison shot of the German bi-plane loaded. It is almost exactly scaled to those small Corgi WWI planes in the "Milestones" collections that were out several years ago.

That Flying Wing looks like something from the old Galoob Micro Machines. Hasbro bought Galoob, I believe, so maybe it is from that line.

I think the cycle and truck have possibilities (gears churning).

Thanks for taking the time to share these photos Tman! :D

I was thinking the same thing. Galoob had a nice little Indiana Jones Micromachines vehicle set out in 1995, years before the Disney stuff and the current Hasbro products. It had 10 vehicles and a little Indy figure. The vehicles included the Pontoon Bi-plane, Pan Am Clipper, Flying Wing, and German Staff Car from Raiders of the Lost Ark; the Duesenberg car, Ford Trimotor Plane, and Mine Car with figures from Temple of Doom; and the Motor Boat, Zeppelin with Bi-plane, and Tank from Last Crusade.

The Titanium Series Flying Wing looks alot like the old Micromachines one.

Yeah Hasbro has rehashed a lot of Galoobs old stuff. Pretty cool, especially the truck. I look forward to seeing these in my AO. 8)

The package backs do reference Galoob and Micromachines
