Any chance of seeing any 1/32 big bombers?

Post by DocTodd » Mon Feb 28, 2005 8:03 pm

Has anyone heard or do you think there is any chance of seeing any big bombers in this scale. I know there is little chance of seeing these in 1:18, but I thought the 1/32 scale might be manageable. Heck they should fit in the current 21st 1:18 scale plane boxes-so no new boxes needed.

Big planes in those scales would be cool and much more practical than 1:18. Still, they'd be huge!

As awesome As they would be for us, I’m not sure the company’s would take a financial gamble on trying to push them…. But a massive donier being flanked by a couple 262’s…. How awesome.

Perhaps some medium bombers would be okay, but all the heavies would be terribly large. I think your best bet would be 1/32. Even then the wing span would be measured in feet.

I'd love to see a 1/72 B-17, B-24, B-29, B-26, B-25, and A-26!

Well, your wish has been partially granted - there are 1:72 bombers made by Corgi. The B-17 (F & G models), B-24 (D & J types), Landcaster, Wellington, Mosquito (bomber & nightfighter variants), HE-111, JU-87, and soon, there will be a B-25 as well. They all have moving turrets, propellers, variable pos. landing gear, flight crews, and some have moving control surfaces.

There's a B-29 in 1:144 scale, too.

...but then, you knew about all these planes, didn't you :D

Yeah, just I'm more hopefully they will appear in the... 'less expensive' range :-D While the Corgi ones are excellent... I can almost buy 2 Bbi F-18 Hornets for the cost!

The cost certainly is the truth! I only have four of the large 1:72 planes, and three of them I got on discount.
