Toys R Us has lost my business...

Toys R Us used to get a lot of my business, but not anymore.

This time last year, TRU had an abundance of 21C Bf-109s and Me-262s.
Now, there's only a stack of Evie's that aren't going anywhere.

I asked one of the peons working there when they would expect a fresh batch of 21C AC.
Their latest excuse was that TRU is focusing on other items.
While they're busy doing that, I'll take my business elsewhere... right across the street at Wal-mart buying 21C AC for $5 less.

I guess the "long & healthy relationship" with TRU has turned cold & bitter?

I don't think there is a problem but just as at Walmart, if there is stock on the shelves, they aren't going to bring in anything new until that stuff sells.. Why add more items when the existing stuff isn't selling??
I think eveyone is in the same boat that sometimes stuff sits for a while and either you buy some up or wait till someone else does.. I have bought planes off the shelves even though I already have them just to help get new stuff..

The stock not moving is probably an endemic problem behind why most TRUs have such limited stock of new items. Then there is also the regionalism of the store distribution patterns. Wal Mart, obviously, is notorious for that, but TRU has turned out to be little better. My most recent 1:18 and 1:32 purchases have actually been online from either a fellow board member or a smalll retailer.

I am starting to worry more about distribution in my AO. Only one area WM has gotten the new FW-190A, and only the S1. I got one for myself and later picked up one for a fellow board member, but haven't seen any since of any series.

It used to be if I was patient I would eventually find it, but now I am not so sure. Maybe we need to set up a distribution network on the forum. TRU has Jagdtigers by the furlong and there are plenty of re-released ME-109s in WM. Will gladly trade for 1/18 dual packs and VN figures!

I've got 1:32 RAF P-51Ds in TRU here. Wal-Mart got Hetzers, Marders and Platoon. TRU also has lots of Vietnam and the new DAK guys. O.O Don't gripe to me. This JUST happened. I swear. I was on rock bottom, to the point where I just gave up for awhile. Then one day... I'm so short on money it sucks.

Now hobby town has ALL the new marders and hetzers this week and TRU across the street? still selling those Jagdtigers and Italian infantry I so desperately needed to go with my 1:32 Italian tank fleet.

seriously there is more variety in Walmart's 3'x6' dedicated shelf space that TRU's 10x 8 foot shelf

every day I see the same thing
10 jadgtigers, 6 or so Katy's (that's the newest thing so kudos for that) 2-3 pak 1:18 AT guns, maybe a 1:18 SPW 250 with cannon, 20 long tom's and then with FoV I get 8 MLRS launchers and some hummers (and not the fun kind either). Most all of the armor and action figures are slanted toward Vietnam and gulf war era and there might be on of thos brown and green sherman, or a tan M3 grant or a Stuart which has always had the plastic front ripped and the figure stolen out of it. And this is true of all 6 TRUs I goto in the Dallas area....save one. They were loaded up wtih the British no camo firefly, a nice find at the price. But other than that? I bought ONE 38t there about 3 months ago. I do plan on grabbing a jagdtiger to do a repaint, but .....

Compare this to the hobbytown 400 yards away from my nearest TRU.
They have at least 17 different FoV vehicles, about 21 21stC vehicles. * constantly changing 1:18 2stC planes. ton's of 1:32 planes. All the 21st C playsets. Add to that a bunch of 1/35 armor that is steep in price and San Diego Toy Soldier CO. figures for Russia, US (both Europe and Mediterranean) and Russian soldiers. And if I am in to mood to mod or do re-paint (or in the SD toy soldier paint them period) I have airbrushes tamiya, Acryl and Humbrol paints and all ranges of diorama makings and metal andplastic sheeting and part plus a huge case of dremmel supplies.
I shop there.

And this week. I came in and they had a wall of hetzers, Marder III and IIIm's to balance on top of the die cast aisle (overpriced, all of it, but there)

I buy online only because I have to. For some reason, Canadian TRU and Wal-Mart has chosen not to import 21st.

That's because the Newfies complain that the name isn't on the same level as them themselves... and therefore Canada has to listen to them...

Now maybe if they were called 19th Century toys and consisted of a line of fishing boats and trawlers... THEN we'd be talking.

Like Col. Pickle, I shop online as well. I don't live far from the border, but the Wal-Marts and TRU's over there are quite few and they don't stock much (One time I checked the toy aisle at a Wally World and found just one "Miss Bonnie" P-51D.

I buy my AC wherever I find them, either at one of the Wallys or TRU. Haven't seen a P-51D besides the Brit model but I got my Red 19 at WM and they had the Italian theater F. Just like with GI Joe and Star Wars finding stuff is hit or miss, usually miss.

I really want an natural finish P-51D since my B's and D are all camo, but I'm just going to wait on that one.

I had a Canadian friend tell me that Newfoundland was Canada's version of West Virginia. Never been to either so I can't judge.

The French Canadians as well complain that the stocking of these Panzers in a French-founded country is too reminescent of the invasion of France by Germany in WWII to be taken lightly, and therefore they have held steadfast to the stereotype: any near resemblance to the enemy causes immediate surrender.

Be it an actual tank, a cardboard cut out, a model, a tea cup or a young child of German descent, the French Canadians decided to take care of the problem by boycotting 21st Century Toys, citing that the risk is too great to ignore.

1) Newfies are big (200lbs+), black life savers who love the water and don't want anybody to drown in it, ever. They are wonderful, slobbery dogs.

2) I STOPPED SHOPPING AT TRU when they stopped carrying WW2 German tanks because they were pressured into it by anti-Nazi fanatics. That was ~7 years ago, give or take.
