21C 1/32 multi-engine bomber home run

TKO once again mentioned multi-engine 1/32 in the 21C 1/18 thread. This got me thinking, what is the best plane for them to do to succeed in this scale? Hence this poll.

Do not vote what YOU want to see, but rather what you think will sell best to the masses. If they make a FW Condor I may love it but they will sell 200 of them, lose their pants and we'll never see another bomber again.

I vote for a B-25. Not too big or expensive with good recognition. A tie in to the Doolittle raid would do wonders for sales I think.

I say a B-17

The B-25 is also a good one. I'd love to see all the planes on the list, however, they would not quite have the recognition factor with the general public.

a b25 would be the obvious place to start......not overly large, very popular and lots of repaints. Failing that i would say a Mosquito, which is smaller.

I'm actually quite surprised that there havent been any 1/32 bombers released yet, after all these years. Makes me wonder about this mythical superior popularity of 1/32 scale.....i mean many bombers wouldn't be as big as an XD fighter, yet there havent been any produced yet, despite high demand.

I saw B-25 as well to start off. But, a B-17 would not be a bad idea either. How many of us have built the 1-48 monogram kit more than once?

I went for a Ju-88 but I think they would have better sales success with aircraft that would fit better with ground troops and vehicles.

For example
Transport aircraft such as a DC-3/Dakota and any WWII glider(s).

Recon aircraft such as a Fiesler Storch.

Actually, there is the Corgi 1:32 Mosquito, but that is sort of a premium collector's piece and not really avaliable at mass retail. Lots of detail and moving features. Still, one has been done

i meant released by 21c, actually....there's also a 1/32 Ju-88 model kit being released by Revell.

Although, the He-111 & Mosquito would be great sellers, I voted for the B-25 Mitchell.

1/32 for comparison:
P-51 wingspan: 13"
Mosquito wingspan: 20"
B-25 wingspan: 26"
He-111 wingspan: 27"
B-17 wingspan: 39"

As cool as it is, the B-17 would be too big for my collection.

I am amongst that number.

And I concur that the 17, followed by the 25, would have the best recognition factor to the mainstream toy buyers. Folks like us will have to depend on successful sales of an initial release to convince 21st to make something more exotic, such as the Heinkels and such.

Hell, I'd love to see a Liberator. I can't recall people mentioning that plane much other than in the poll list above, but I built a few of those Monograms as well.

I would love to see some modern bombers as well B-52, B-47,B-58, B-1B
Then I might go 1/32 on a limited basis.

Hi,
I'd like to vote for a B-52 Stratofortress in 1:1 scale. I think if its priced right, by Walmart's standards, we might be able to squash, er, I mean, get it on an endcap by the holidays.

I'd like to see the checkout gal ask paper or plastic and where she can find the UPC code?

Any thing, at this point. I would love to see a heavy but a light bomber such as a B-25, B-26, B-27....I can see it now, tight box formation hanging from the ceiling with a fur ball of p-51's and 109's around them...might need a bigger ceiling.

Now if a P-38 were on the Poll, that would have won, hands down.

which He-111?

early Spanish Kondor Legion which had a noise like a B-17ish

or 1940 with the glazed nose/cabin

or late war/H-22 IIRC which had a power turret on top and was used to air-launch V-1s < which means a 32x V-1 also

also you could do a Spanish Built He-111 with Rolls-Royce motors.

I really want a Lightning too, but this poll is 1/32 Bombers.

Remember, this was put up after TKO mentioned 1/32 bombers in the Mfg forum in the 1/18 thread.

Next question - how much would anyone be willing to pony up for a 1/32 B-17? 75 to a 100 bucks?

I would be comfortable with 1/18 KT-like prices. Just imagine how detailed it would be if 21C put the effort into it like they have with their recent AC releases. 8)
