I recently received the blister pack 1/32 m18 hellcat. It is a nice model, but it seems too small, especially in length.
Any answers?
thanks

Well, the Hellcat was a pretty small vehicle, smaller than a Sherman. I don't have one so I can't say if it is to scale or not.

Here is a link to a good pic on Wiki. The crew really helps to illustrate the small size of the vehicle. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... t_side.jpg

from wiki
The T70 prototype for the M18 first saw combat in Anzio, Italy, and production versions of the M18 were used in North-West Europe and Italy from the summer of 1944 onwards.

In contrast to the 3in Gun Motor Carriage M10, which used the chassis of the Medium Tank M4, the M18 Hellcat was designed from the start to be a fast tank destroyer. As a result it was smaller, lighter and significantly faster, yet still carried the same 76 mm gun as the Sherman 76 models. There was also more internal stowage; the M18 could accommodate a five man crew as well as 45 rounds of ammunition and an M2 Browning machine gun.

The winter version looks more to the appropriate scale.
I don't know. Does anyone have two of both the M18's?
thanks again

Both M-18s were made from the same mould and are identical, so therefore, they are the same size

In a book I have, the lenght of a m18 hellcat is 21ft. (larger than a sherman). If you do the calculations, the 1.32 model should be about 7.8 inches; the model is six inches.

The stats I've dug up say that the Hellcat was 21.8 feet including the gun barrel but the vehicle itself was only 17.3 feet long.

Thanks, I assumed the data was not including the gun barrel.
