Corgi has caught me

Post by Quixote511 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 11:56 am

Well, I bought a 32x Hurricane from Corgi for my classroom airforce because I thought 21st would never come out with one. The price was steep in my opinion (50 bucks), but I really like RAF aircraft. I have to say that I am taken. I think if Corgi had the variety of airframes available in 32nd that it does in 72nd, I would drop 18th scale all together.

I have a 32nd scale Corgi Mosquito coming in next week. I am really looking forward to adding the "Mossie" to my collection. Like you said, the price is steep, but they are beautiful models. :D

Yes, Corgi is indeed in a class of its own. I don't own any of the 1/32 scale planes, but have seen and handled them in person. They put even the nicest 21c model to shame... I do, however, have a number of the 1/72 scale fighters and bombers, some of which I bought when I was in England because they weren't in the US. I've got nothing but praise :D

What type of landing gear does the Hurricane have? Is it seperate pieces for deployed and retracted or is it an actual working landing gear?

Thanks.

It is actual working retracts. Like I said, I am really blown away. Even the wife said I could keep this one on the sideboard in the dining room

Glad to hear you like them.. I have all of (or have had) all the available Corgi 1/32 on the market and they are the best.. I now only have 6 but those include Spitfires. P-51Ds, Bf-109Gs, & Hurricanes..

Here is a great website for Corgi buffs which shows all the 1/32 releases to date..

Ahh, another 1:32 convert in the making..  Come over to the dark side Luke, the 32X force will be with you..LOL. Corgi makes nice stuff, I have both of the 1:50th scale DDay diorama sets and the quality and detail is as good as anything out there.

Theflyingmule.com usually carries a healthy stock of these and sometimes you can get a good price off ebay..

Any of you guys have an idea of how much the Corgi Mosquito weighs? I have heard it it heavy, and I want to put in on a shelf. Just wondering if the shelf can hold the weight?

I caught the Corgi bug too

Just picked up a used He 111 from a member of the Model Hangar. Can't make a habit out of buying Corgi planes on account of the cost, but seeing as the He 111 is my favourite Luftwaffe bomber... couldn't help it.

The only thing that isn't there for me is selection. The cost is about the same, and the detail is on par. Plus, you have more room to buy more of it. Though, I am firmly entrenched in XD with the size of my personal airforce.

But, if Corgi were to turn out enough airframes, I might convert wholeheartedly.

I don't know how much the plane is by itself, but the plane in its box is about 12lbs..

 Solid cast? Wow, that is like $10 a pound, cheaper than filet mignon, and much more satisfying!
