21st 1:32 Sherman question

Post by Ruger » Sun Feb 24, 2008 3:23 pm

I bought one of the bulldozer blade equipped Sherman model kits that 21st has, primarily to get the bulldozer blade for another project. I decided to put the Sherman together, and modify it extensively. I plan on using it to give my Abrams something to "plink" at, since, upgunned and uparmored as my project may be, it will never be a match for them. If you're curious, feel free to read more here.

My question for today though comes from my noticing that when the turret is fitted to the hull, underneath the rear of the turret, there is a sizable gap going straight into the hull. It seems to stem from the turret not really being round, and the turrent ring, of course, being round. My question is, is this normal, are all 21st Shermans like this, or is this an abnormality due to the kit nature of my piece? Any thoughts?

I finally took the time to look and yes, all the 21st Shermans have this feature. For some reason, the turret ring was not run continiously around the 21st turret. It is interesting in that the years I have been collecting these tanks, I never really noticed the gap. It doesnt look like a hard fix if you want to close it up...

Thanks for looking. I just didn't know if it was due to the kit nature of my example. I'm not concerned about it, at least, not now that I'm past the point where I could easily rectify it. I just didn't know if mine was unusual. Thanks again for looking.
