A far cry from some of the stuff we built as kids. I remember my first model ever was the venerable 1/570th scale RMS Titanic.

I wish I had the skill to do one of these justice. I bought a 1/32 HE-162 and had visions of this beautifully painted Salamander chasing my 21C Mustangs all over my ceiling. One airbrush and $100 later it sits in a box beyond all hope. I have determined that whatever skills were granted to me model building is not included. :(

I did one back in 1984,,,I had, but the 2 pc hull gave me a big headache, I had so much finger prints on her that I had to lightly sand the hull to remove them.

Wow, I built so many Revell and Monogram models back as a kid in the 80's I couldn't count. Too bad I used to blow them up and set them on fire.

I loved how the plastic would send off that oily black smoke! Very realistic...

A few of my models met their end with what we used to call "penny bangers". Can you still get those, Studly?
One ship model met its demise through an encounter with a "threepenny banger" which was illegal even back then (basically a small stick of dynamite, as I recall). :D :D :D :D
Ah, childhood memories... fire, explosions, mayhem! :D :D :D

I used to do that with A/C models also I would put a small steel plate under the snake to prevent it from melting through the bottom right away.

Aw...say it isn't so! Those crackers were the best!
Many fond memories of blowing up stuff with those bloody great bangers! :D
We used to ( mind now, all you youngsters, I am not recommending this) take plumbing piping and make guns that would exactly accommodate a penny banger. Used to take the chrome ball-head from drinking fountains and use them for a breach. Would shoot a marble a bloody long way! :D :D :D
Ah, youth!

The best firework available when I was a kid was the M-80. Basically a chunk of dynamite, it was the atomic bomb of firecrackers! There was even a fabled M-100. Never saw one of those.

Back in fifth grade my buddy and I blew his brothers Knight Ryder KITT to hell with two of those suckers. Hasselhoff figure included! Rolled it down the driveway and booom!! I don't think there was a recognizable piece of KITT left.
I loved how the plastic would send off that oily black smoke! Very realistic...
  Yeah and those little black flakes that would float all over the place.

Ah, yes! The omnipotent M-80. Didn't get a hold of these things until I was a teen. By then most of the damage to my models had been done by Black Cats. I bought about 3 gross. A wholesaler used to bring them in for the Fish and Game for "bear protection" and would sell a few extras out of the back of his warehouse. Basically an 8th of a stick of dynamite. They lasted for a while, mostly used on the 4th of July. One could easily blow your fingers off. That being said, we used to shoot them in the air with a wrist rocket and see how high we could get to explode. The common sense part of my brain hadn't developed yet.

By the way, this JU-88 looks very cool. Could C-21 follow up with there own version?
