OK, fellas, help me decide which PzIV to buy

I personally think the FoV example is worth it. The detail and heft of it alone is far superior. *

..... but if you're on a budget , then the 21st. example is just the ticket.

I haven't examined the '41 model but my "Kowel" winter IV is one of my favorite pieces so I would imagine the earlier model would be quality as well.

Schizuki, let me say that both the D and the H versions from FOV are some of my favorite armor. I also have to say that the 21C H versions are my least favorite of all manufacturers and molds. I think they are the least detailed, worst painted and for whatever reason 21st worst effort to date.

I say go FOV or don't bother for the H and would strongly recommend the D model FOV.

Yeah the 21st H wasn't too hot. You couldn't even turn the turret because the side skirts and the turret armor banged into each other. I will probably buy one or two more FOV PZ IV's.

You've probably already made your decision, but I can't help chiming in

It all really depends on which era you want to collect. The 21c Panzer IV D is quite appropriate for, perhaps, a Blitzkrieg setup, whereas the FOV Panzer IV F1 is from a little later. The 21c version is accurate to the Panzer IVD, as is the FOV tank to the Panzer IV F1. Both tank types did see use on the Russian front.

The FOV version is the one I would go with however, as it has the most detail, functionality, and accessories. The weathering and paintjob are also excellent. All the main hatches open and you can place the commander and crewman in the turret. The "924" tank is the best of the 21c Panzer IVDs, but still looks a little plain.

You won't be disappointed with the FOV tank

I would also recommend the FOV PZIV , I have one myself and its one of best looking FOV models I have . But it have one other advantage than just the detail , FOV's models are almost completely made out of metal while the 21stC ones are mostly made out of plastic . The plastic or metal on the 21stC models isn't very thick either
and the underside of my 32x Jagdtiger cracked when I removed the screws so they're a lot more fragile than FOV's .

This is sort of an "apples versus oranges" comparison for me, I do like the FOV for all the reasons everyone already mentioned, and like Rowsdowser I'm partial to the winterized "Kowel" version. Still, in spite of it's flaws like the damned turret skirts that ride too low on the 21st Pz. IV H, I'm kinda partial to the paintjob on the "829", to me it's one of the more attractive and interesting camo schemes on a 21C 1:32 scale tank to date.

my fav Pz IV

1/35 Tamiya Masterwork Pz IV ausf H early(80mm(50mm with 30mm bolted on)) done in 2. Panzer Markings, for 3. Panzer Regiment, II Abteilung, 3. Zug, 3 Panzer.

heh, current project, a DML 250/8 is in the background..just sprayed it today, going to start dry brushing this weekend hopefully.
