Found them at the Washington, illinois Walmart today.

Nice, I notice it is labeled as a P-51K. The K is the same as the D model except for the prop. The D had a 11'2" Hamilton Standard prop, while the K had a 11' Aeroproducts prop. The demand for Hamilton Standard props was so great, that they used the Aeroproduct prop on the K model. The hollow blades with the Aeroproducts props had bad vibration problems, and many were changed to Hamilton Standard props in the field. The P-51K was also made at the North American Aviation plant in Dallas.

At least I got the FW-190F early on, however

I hope these planes don't take too long to get around. The new P-51 is a must-have

WM's in my AO are loaded to the gills with P-40s so I won't be seeing one of these for awhile. Hopefully the distribution will be better than the B/C's since I only ever saw Bull Frogs and my single Shangri-La. Why is the blue in the national insignia so light? Is that the camera or is it supposed to look faded?

I LOVE the plane I do I do but those pizza cutter landing gear wheels suck! Interchangable lowered/retracted gear pieces would be 100% better IMO.

Oh man, just noticed the tires, what are they thinking!!! Geez new mold, great paint schemes, crappy tires...Hello, anybody home McFly???

Yes I wish they had done the landing gear on this new P-51 like BBI did with the F-4J. Those skinny tires on this Mustang are really bad. It would take a really skilled pilot to land this Mustang on those tires.

Well, since mine are in flight in the classroom (the one nice thing drop ceilings can do), I am not worried about the tires.

I agree... My Mustangs are in-flight also, so the gear isn't an issue, although they probably could've done it better..

Well I like to have one plane flying and one on the ground, canopy open, etc. and with those wobbly bicycle tires it just doesn't work. I understand a properly sized wheel/tire would probably not be able to retract into the wing and that is where optional pieces come in. You get retracted gear with closed doors or snap them out and put on the correctly scaled extended gear.

They are the same wheels that are on the P51B.

The thing is I had found the FW-190F there last week and it had a bad paint job. They told me they were expecting 4 more planes. I called and was told all they had were Mustangs. Every other store around here has the Bullfrog, Berlin Express or Princess, so I was about ready not to go there. I got to thinking, No! They couldn't have the new P-51! My gut took over and said I should go anyway.

Yes indeed, they are the same wheels and I own one of those P-51B's, Shangri-La. I said the same thing back then, that optional position gear works great for 1:48 and 1:72 models and I think it would work great for 1:32 too.

Thanks. I opted for BBI's 1/18 Donald Duck P-51...it has the awful sliding-canopy slot, but it does have more detail, oxygen mask and weathering, although I would prefer 1/32 instead of 1/18.

Has anyone located a paint job other than the Miss Bonnie? I am really looking forward to picking up one of these but have passed on Miss Bonnie as I prefer to acquire one from the European Theatre.

That is beautiful, so there's some imperfections. The paint scheme is unique and the mold is incredible! I give it 100% thumbs up from the pics, but I'll have to see it myself. I can't wait till my local Wally restocks, they had nothing. I did find a Black 3 Me-109E, which I had been looking for for quite some time, and it's paint is FLAWLESS.

I saw S-1, S-2 & S-3 of the new P-51D at the local TRU before the holidays. Great job on the new editions!

So far my favorite is the British GA S w/ Shark mouth scheme.

The bombs are an added bonus!
Is there any chance we'll see a P-51 with rockets?

Looking forward to the additional schemes!
