This is not my Area of Operations but I noticed these cool new figures in 1:32 from 21st, Definitely a break in the marketing strategy...but cool that they made them.

True, but there where loyal supporters of Mao in the ranks at that time, I think that the Chinese would frown on toy imperial Chinese troops being made. Since they are are soooooo hyper sensitive over small stupid stuff I doubt they are imperial troops.

partly right, the CCP didn't win til may 1950 but the Civil War between communist and Nationalist started in 1927.

21C seems to be all over the board as to what they release. I think it is great to see the diversity, but I have a hard time tracking. This reminds me of the M-113 release; wonderful model but how does it fit into their product line?

Very odd choice if you ask me, I dunno...I just can't get too excited about these. Weird... What's next, Chindits...?? Actually, I think Chindits might be a better choice, they were after all the largest Allied special forces group in WWII...go figure.

It is different that 21st is doing chines infantry. But
they are cool looking none the less. And at one time didn't 21st show British air born and Marines figures? Anyone no what happen to these?

I think this shows that anything is possible in 1/32 at the moment.
1/32 already has Brit figures, Russian armor and Italian Infantry so I would welcome the diversity if this were my scale.

Well I guess since they were released after the USMC and the British Paras we will never see them!

I think many of you are way to kind to 21st. No Americans in what seven years? No US airborne? I mean there are so many others that should have been made before these???

I cant imagine this set being a collectors dream, not many at least. I really cant see it being a popular buy at wally world either. The average kid who may end up grabing some figures wants something that looks familiar????

WTH??? The last time they created and released an American set of troops was the year 2001. Hey 21st thats not a pace thats near dead!

Jrs. and others - I find it funny that when 21C makes what another company has made, we cry foul, but when they don't make what another company has done, they are amiss. There have been a TON of 1/32 Germans and US released by FoV in the last few years, including US Airborne. Why would you want 21C to do the same?

As a 1:18 collector, I would hate to see bbi do Japanese figs or 21st do a Zero. It's like people who cry for a 1:32 T-34 - there is an awesome one out already!

Remember, it's the Chinese that make these toys, and the US isn't their only market.

I think you may be on to something there, I honestly can't see these being big sellers in the north american market, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out it's the German stuff that is the biggest seller by far, and anyone who has ever had a stint in model kitbuilding is all too famaliar with this phenomenon. To tell you the truth, I thought 21st was pushing the envelope a bit with the Italians, but these strike me as peg warmers in big way for the US market, so you may be correct that the intended market base is elsewhere.

Cool! Neat, if obscure figures. I agree with the comments on the sales potential in the US, and it makes me wonder what level the Chinese contractors for 21c had in this decision. They will go with the 32x Japanese and AVG P-40s pretty well, though!

To correct an earlier observation by Aferg, China wasn't communist during WWII, but their Communist movement was very active and during the war switched its focus from fighting the Nationalist government to fighting the Japanese. Still they were more of a gurilla insurgent force, and the new 32x troops look like regulars.

I would have liked to see the 32x USMC figures out before these, but I guess 21c does what 21c does.

that was kinda my point; i don't think 21c made WWII era chinese communist guerilla insurgents, i think they made chinese army regulars. And the reason they did that was because China wasn't communist during WWII, so it was essentially the regular chinese army that was battling the japanese, with some help from the communists.

And i suspect the current day chinese government didn't notice precisely what these troops represent, so 21c was able to get them produced, without the objections they had to the older chinese national symbol that was used on the AVG P-40...which was kind of weird anyway because i've seen lots of P-40 models and toys produced in china over the years with that old symbol on them.

FOV Airborne? Those popeyed figures are horrid. 21st is truly something we all care about, it just makes no sense to me. Especially when they state its a change of pace? Figarti did Chinese sets when they first got started and couldnt sell em. They ended up 50% off on almost every web site where they were sold.

Yes FOV does a great T34 at $55. No where near the $15 21st can do! Kind of hard to stock up at $55 a piece.

I think 21st has an edge in price and quality in figures. The fact is there are hundreds of manufactures who produce sets. Plastics painted un painted etc. They have the distrobution network etc. I can only imagine how many sets of american soldiers were sold from TSSD, Conte, Arifix, Italeria, Match Box, Marx Recasts, the list goes on and on. How many times could 21st have been filling the order. In my humble opinion they should do a bread and butter set every year, and keep them in circulation.

There are people on these boards who have been collecting 32X from 21st four nearly five years and have never had a chance to purchase an American set??? I love the chinese infantry but they simply look out of place with a M18 hellcats, M4 Sherman, M4 dozer, M4 76mm, M7 priest, M24 Chaffe, M5, M3, and 8" howitzers!

Sorry for the rant, but thats what I believe this forum is for?? I also am ok with you ( digger) and your opinions even if we differ. I will buy one set just to add to the collection but I am sure they will simply collect dust.

Though the guy in the middle looks more like a Jewish deli owner than a Chinese soldier.
