I found the 32nd scale Tex Hill flying tiger P-40B today at Wal Mart. Is this a new version from 21st Century?

Yes, it is a new version of the P-40B, but its been out at Wal Mart for a while (thoug I've yet to see one) and was avaliable at the small retailers even before that

It's the old mold though right? Meaning not new tool? My WM has 15 sitting on the riser. Also, are there decals inside to correct the insignias?

Yes, its the old mould. It pretty much copies the 1:18 P-40 sculpt, so its inaccurate, but by no means the worst 32x plane! It should come with decals to correct the insignia.

I still see some of these around I believe I picked up one.

Yeah I might pick one up just for a 1:32 P-40. I prefer the P-40E or later but I doubt we will see one of those anytime soon so I will just have to be happy with my 1:72 Corgi.

I find the look of the P-40B model kind of strange. They captured the look of the plane from the front with the cowl and chin scoop. But I find the midsection of the plane to be to fat. It just does not look right. Anyone else feel this way about the P-40B model?

I agree Saberfan. I think what throws off the appearance for me is the canopy really bulges out. This is not one of my favorite 1/32 offerings. Down the road an updated mold would be great. I think we really need a P-38 before 21C revisits the P-40.

I've never seen these in southern CA, but then, I've never seen alot of planes out here. Where are they sitting around? I may just have to initiate a trade or something to help clear those out...

Oh hell yeah, tex hill p-40, tarheel hal, and winter 109 in oklahoma, that means atlanta is only 6 months down the road- right around the corner!!
I just realized that if I rebox my beer can collection from the 70's and take them and the hardwood floor strip shelves off the wall , I will have room for another 30 or so 1/32nd 21st offering on the pegboard- I'm running low on room for the 1/18th stuff, though

Agreed. I'm completely satisfied with mine. Because it's the second "Tex" Hill plane I bought (After I picked up Bullfrog I), I like to sometimes sit the two beside each other to compare how far along the 32X line has come, as well as create a little tribute to the man who flew them. However, if 21stC revamped the mold, I would probably put it back in its box for storage.

If they want to revamp the P-40, they should just give us a P-40E or better!

I hope they do redo the 32nd scale P-40B. I have always like the B model P-40. It has such a sleek look. I like all models of the P-40, but the B is my favorite.
