It will be interesting to see what the future of 21c at Wal Mart is......The fact that all of us have been reporting massive discounts nationwide and all at the same time is not encouraging....
I agree, only time will tell but it would very bad indeed if WM is eliminating or drastically reducing the line of 21C products in their stores. If that proves to be the case, online retailers and e-bay will likely become the primary source for most of us. :(

I don't mind getting my 21c products from the small retailers. Although it is more expensive, their distribution, in a sense, is better and I don't have to waste time and gas driving around to different stores.

What scares me is WM reducing the amount of 21c they carry, perhaps limiting it to certain stores in certain areas, much as was the case when 21c products first started being sold at WM. I know that in those early days, the stores in my town never got the AH-1W, P-47D, or diecast Sherman, AVG P-40, or Hueys. There's still several new releases (including the Avenger) that have yet to make an appearance and probably won't. But alas, its Wal Mart and anything seems to go with that retail giant...

Made a run to Niles and South Bend today, and all 3 WMs I visited (Niles, Mishawaka, and Portage Rd) had the new Bf-109G6s in various paint schemes. Niles and Portage still had some miscellaneous 1/32 armor, but nothing new or exciting.
Now here is what I found typical WM: In Niles, I picked up 1 each (all they had) of the Stalingrad and Calais playsets: on clearance for $4 each. At the other 2 WMs, they had several of each, for $16.96. The logic defies me...

My local Hobbytown USA store finally got in last years 32x assortment, including a Zero, 2 "Black 1" FW-190Ds, a P-47, and 4 "Hans Ohley" Bf-109Es, as well as a few NIB S1 "White 3" ME-262s.

There was all that plus a bunch of new 1:18 aircraft and armor. All in all a good find!

Cool, I'd be curious to know what all they had XD wise. Our local HT USA store has a fairly large selection of XD, as well as a good stock of FOV stuff, primarily in 1/32, but a little 1/72 as well. The problem is, their prices are....well, retail... I mean it's often cheaper to buy the same item online, even when you factor in the cost of shipping, at least that is the case for the store nearest to me in Frederick Maryland.

I've posted this in the 21c Finds & Discussion thread on the 1:18 forum, but why not post it here as well

In 1:18 aircraft, they had 4 "Atlantic" Avengers, 2 "Russian" Mig-15s, 4 "Petie 2nd" P-51s, 3 "Gunther Rall" Bf-109Gs, 4 "Bunker Hill" Corsairs, 2 FW-190Ds, plus a couple BBI F-18s and the "Old Crow" P-51. As far as armor, they had 4 21c Tigers in the winter scheme and 6 Stuka Zu Fusses.

It was a good selection, although there wasn't anything truly new. The Migs (albeit the N. Korean version) and the Stuka zu Fusses can still be found heavily discounted at some Wal Marts in my area.

Apart from the 32x planes (all of which have been out at either Wal Mart or other retailers for over a year) they had little 1:32, but a number of 1:72 products including Dragon armor & aircraft, Corgi Aviation Archive planes, Hobby Master planes & armor, Franklin Mint and MRC 1:72 and 1:24 planes.

Overall a very good selection. Its no Badcataviation, Militarytoyshop or Toyfederation, but quite nice. The prices seem to match most other small retailers, with the "average" sized 1:18 planes being in the $50-$60 range, so I wind up not having to pay for shipping 8)

Frederick Maryland (south) WM had one each US Platoon Fire Support and German Mortar Crew 32X playsets, these are new in the AO to the best of my knowledge. $19.88 each, plus tax.

Made a stop today at the local WM--they now have the Bf-109F model kits in stock. I also note that the boxes are now taped shut.

Nothing else new, other than a price change on the 1/32 playsets--they are now all up to $19.88, like the sets Ostketten mentions above. Which would be fine if it weren't for the fact they are the same Stalingrad and Calais sets that were $16.96 a week ago and that I got at another Walmart for $4 on clearance.
I also asked the woman working the department this afternoon if there was any chance that there may be some additional items not out yet, and the woman said that everything gets put out and they restock every night. She also said that the store has no say about what they get--it simply shows up. If true (and I have heard it before), it truly indicates the purely mechanical nature of the WM distribution system, and the twisted logic that drives it.

Mt. Airy WM had a couple 32X M7 Priest "Annamae" snap kits, $14.74 ea. It's about the only new thing I've seen at this store in a while.

Found the Bf-109F Model Kits a few days ago, and had to pickup a couple.. Today, I found the Paris P-40N (deaths head w/ sickle) and had to get one of those also..
On the XD front, I picked up an Atlantic Vanger for $18.00 and the Toy manager at another Walmart is just waiting for the go-ahead to "final" clearance the XD vehicles she is sitting on (Halftracks/Pak40s).. If they get any lowere, then they may hit that magical $9.00 mark or less..

My Uncle found the 1/48 P-40 at the Ionia walmart, and picked up five of them. I found six of them at the Battle Creek walmart today, along with a restock of the 1/32 Bf-109F-4's.

Found a new 1:144 Dogfight pack with a Royal Navy Hellcat repaint and a new FW-190A-8! This store also had the 1:48 Panzer IV Hs, but I think those have been out for a while elsewhere. The new planes look sharp, and I think the FW-190A is a first for 21c. One would really be great in 1:32 and 1:18 and perhaps we'll see them yet...

yea it's a first for 21st.

Now here is the question...4 or 2, 2cm cannons in the wings??

Most A-8 had four 2cm cannons installed(Most Dragon 1/72 only have 2 I think for some reason)..while most F/G model only had 2 cannons(inner) in the wings, while the outer where removed cause of the heavier loads they carried under-wing.

I'll take either BMW powered goodness..either the A-8 or the F/G-8 models.

They didn't! At least 2 Wal Marts in my area got a bunch of these FW-190/Hellcat sets, so they are out in number at least in the west. I wonder what other planes are in the new wave - A P-47, P-38, or even Spitfire would be cool (and a much more logical inclusion in the Dogfight pack with the FW-190  )

MIracle of miracles... Benton Harbor Wahlmart has restocked a bit! They have several of the last round of 1/32 armor repaoints, as well as more of the 1/32 Bf-109s--so far, I think they have had all 6 that I am aware of. And they just put out the three "new" playsets with the halftracks and Priest. So maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At least it wasn't a restock of Channel Watch and Final Step!
