This set depicts the actual moment of the attack on Heydrich when he was fatally injured by the bomb thrown by one of the assassins. This special set includes Heydrich himself...his SD driver...and the two brave Czech patriots Jan Kubis and Josef Gabcik and a superb model of the Reichsprotektor's Staff Car.
Somewhere around here I have Czech black and white movie with English subtitles that recounts the incident and the resulting reprisals which culminated in the Lidice massacre. If memory serves me Heydrich was in the vehicle (I could be mistaken on this though) when the grenade actually detonated and the seat absorbed much of the blast, what eventually did him in was that pieces of seat fabric and particles were driven deep into his body by the force of the blast and those caused septicemia (blood poisoning) which ultimately killed him. An interesting story for sure, and a very cool dio set for the serious collector.

I think you are right with your account of the actual attack. There were a few discrepencies with this set; color of the car and Heydrich position. This set has done very well though, particularly in Europe.

Thanks
Ronnie

The discrepancies are very minor IMO, think of it as "artistic license", and it's a very cool set in any case. The severed head is pretty neat too, for those that are into knights and saracens. 8) I can well understand how the Heydrich dio would be a good seller, thanks for posting the pics.
