Matchbox 1/72 tanks

Post by Philip » Fri Apr 06, 2007 11:23 am

If you are an avid collector of 1/72 armor, I would recommend that you pick up one, or both, of the Matchbox Shermans that are listed at The Flying Mule - $29.99. They are true diecast metal tanks. You will not find many of these listed at anyone's site. To my knowledge these are no longer being produced. These two are unique because they are Matchbox's last two Sherman issues, in 1/72. I have not seen these in stores for several years. They are based on the CDC molds, but are camos that were not in the CDC line. Anyway, just a suggestion, and a "heads up."

Thanks for the heads up, $30 ea. for 1/72 tanks is a bit out of my normal "comfort zone", but I'll check them out anyway.

Yeah, $30.00 is high, and I wouldn't pay that much in a normal situation, but these are not made anymore. I was surprised to find them. I think in the long run you will be glad you got some of these.

If you have a Value City store near you you might want to have a look. They had quite a few of the Matchbox tanks at one time, going for about $8. Since product moves so slowly at those stores some may still have some of these.

I did see one at Tuesday Morning a little over a year ago. I checked today, and it was gone. They haven't been in the Target stores, or any others in my area for about 3 years.

If you can find them at a Tuesday Morning, or a Value City, they will usually be around $4.00 - $6.00

Though it has been awhile I went into a Value City today. As I was going in they handed me a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $20 or more. Went upstairs to the toys and found both Sherman models and a Churchill, all marked at $7.99 each. One Sherman though had some mild damage to the box. I asked a Manager and she said I could have 15% off that one. Between that and the coupon, the three tanks cost me $13.54..... heh,heh,heh....heh,heh,heh
