Holy Schnikeys!!!!
All bidders from the US, with the lone exception of 'Spitfire-Ace' from the UK. I think you'll see a flood of them on Ebay now. I'm tempted to sell mine.
And to think, you could still find those things at Target last year for a mere $7.99

Wow! I have that fighter - it was the first Matchbox plane I bought. That buyer must be some sort of chump, paying nearly 30 times as much as it origionally cost! And I thought it was a little too much when I payed about $24 for a silver, "Joe Engle" Matchbox F-100 on Ebay! That seller must be VERY happy.

i wonder if the silver p-38 would go for more or less. I sold a silver one about a year ago for around $90 and i remember at the time the olive drab version was not going for nearly as much.

Goes to show you never know what items are going to be high-value in the future.

That is incredible! I think it is by far the worst of the matchbox planes. It is too heavy and sits awkwardly on it's stand and the missles on the pylons seem as though they would scrape the ground on takeoff.
Just for my friends here I will offer mine up for the first taker at the low low 50% off price of $180.
Ready, set go!
I am kidding...

I'm really surprised these things go for that much.I usually pick up a few complete sets of the planes for my own use.I think I'll put a few sets up and see what happens.I could use a new car.

Incredible. This version of the P-38 was going for $8 at KB for the longest time. I got 2 (as usual). We'll see if this is just a fluke............
