Hi Hanomag,
Many thanks for your input and the images. We were supposed to wait until Toy Fair to get this information but it looks like you got the jump on all of us!

Uksubs, I'm not going to defend any of the manufacturers since they can do that themselves. That said, sometimes you see duplication of effort in the marketplace cause one company will have already invested heavily in research and design plus make a pre-pro mold without knowing that a competitor is doing likewise. While an item can be pulled from their lineup once they learn of a similar effort, thats often difficult to do cause they still have to announce something and dont have the time to come up with something else so quickly. Moreover, they have to be practical about what they choose to replicate. I mean, how many people are going to buy an unheard of military vehicle versus one you see all the time on the military documentaries?

Lastly, many collectors arent always happy with one manufacturer's work, and dont mind waiting for another manufacturer to model the same weapons platform. On another forum, a few members arent happy with FM's P-51 Mustang and they'd prefer to see another manufacturer come along and make a more true-to-life model.

the poses on those 1/32 figures look very good. Really life like.

Are the dudes coming out of the landing craft wearing red berets? That would make the british paras and i don't think any landed by landing craft on DDay.

Seeing Red

Post by lightning2000 » Sun Jan 21, 2007 3:02 pm

Good point Aferguson. Maybe its supposed to be a British beachmaster? It could also be a case where the real figures werent available yet for the catalogue pix, so they opened up a pack of their 1:72 British Airborne and used them instead. Just a guess....

Great job with the pics Hanomag, thanks for sharing those. The tank riders look sweet! and the detail and markings on that M5 Stuart look excellent. All in all it's looking very promising. 8)

No prob guys. I think lightning is right about the figs on the boat. There is a life-ring above the guy's head so it looks red....but he is a normal fig I've seen before (I think).

Many thanks, Hanomag, I've been looking for pics on the Web off and on all day. The German prime mover looks fantastic. One question, if I may... Does the catalog list a repaint of the 88? I've been holding out for a camo version. :D

Thanks for the photos! FOV is doing some really great stuff, especially with all the riding figures. That sure gives the vehicles a lifelike appearance. The 1:72 bombers look awesome - I'll certainly be down for the B-26!

88mm gun

Post by lightning2000 » Sun Jan 21, 2007 4:45 pm

Hi,
If I might interject, now that they have a proper prime mover to go with their 88, it would make sense at some point to offer the 88mm again in the same scheme as the new prime mover. My guess is that its in the offing since they have the tooling done and merely have to repaint the gun. I think the troops could remain the same...

The Stuart looks exceptional and the Lee will do equally well. Be nice to see even more new vehicles considering there wasnt much in the way of new stuff introduced last year...

Sorry Jagdplastic, they don't have a repaint of the 88 listed. However it is a safe bet that one will show up. The other repaints can be found at various webstores so not really new info. I would say you can bank on a repainted 88 sometime, after all they make 4 Tigers, King Tigers and Schwimmwagens.

As much as I would like to see more new molds, I'd also like to see more modified molds like Grant/Lee or Prime Mover. Lord knows I'd love to see a Sherman Calliope, or Flail, or DD. Not to mention some of the 1/72 make it's way to 1/32..*cough-Churchill-cough*.

The 1/32nd Lee an Grant are already at Target

Post by nfafan » Sun Jan 21, 2007 10:27 pm

The "Target grade" are in bad need of some decent weathering and a dullcoat, but for under $20.00USD, that's cheaper than a plastic model!

wondering if FOV is going to release thier Grey 109G this year.

They dropped the ball on that one, 21st 109F/G are so much better than FOV current green machine.

Maybe FOV will do a 190A/F along with the P-39 sometime in 07.

I received my 2007 catalog today and was all prepared to go on a scanning spree. Unfortunately, my scanner decided to bite the dust during the first scan. :(

Anyway, I was delighted by the 2 posters that were sent along with the catalog. I didn't know they were even available. They measure 23 x 16½. One shows the B-25J Mitchell, the other shows the German Tiger 1.

Here are the troops w/ the Sherman, Tiger, and Half-Track. I believe these are the same figs as seen in the 1/72 Fig packs, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the pictures of the 1/72 stuff. Pretty disappointing that the figures are the same as previously released and the tanks are just repaints. Hopefully they will announce more later on. The artillery piece looked interesting.
