The Franklin Mint Celebrates the Royal Australian Air Force
As part of their ongoing effort to celebrate milestones in aviation history, The Franklin Mint recently announced that they were paying tribute to the 20th Anniversary of the F/A-18 Hornet serving with the Royal Australian Air Force. According to Boeing, "The commemorative paint scheme for the ‘Year of the Hornet’ anniversary aircraft is a fusion of two designs. The first was selected by Air Commodore Mark Binskin, Commander Air Combat Group, from submissions to an internal RAAF design competition. The second was developed by graphic designers from Boeing Australia."
Franklin Mint's limited editon, 1:48 scale Hornet will sport this intricate multi-colored pattern and we hear that only 480 pieces were produced for worldwide consumption. Better get a move on if you're looking to add this ultra-rare knifefighter to your warbird collection...

Here's a 2-D graphic showing the plane from multiple viewing angles. We hope to have an actual photo of this bird shortly.
