1/30 Hen Long Sherman Tank

Post by flpickupman » Mon Dec 26, 2005 12:08 pm

Geeks.com has these currently in stock for only $9.95.

Just thought I'd pass this on since this is the cheapest I've seen them yet.

I bought one of these from Geeks a couple of weeks ago and shipping was amazingly fast! But, you get what you pay for. Several small pieces have already fallen off, but it still works and is fun for the money. :)

What fell off of yours? I've beat the crap out of mine with my 1/24 Tokyo Marui Abrams and nothing's come off yet. My only fuss about them is the treads are too fragile. That's why I have 2 more on order now. Spare parts baby! :D

Oh yeah! Anyone happen to know an equivalent replacement track that can be used on the Hen Long Sherman? I'd like to find something that's more durable and has more traction.

If you're at all familiar with the 1/32 scale vehicles, these tanks are about an inch or so longer than say a 21C 32x Sherman tank. There's not a great deal of size difference, but it's noticable when you place them side by side. The description on rctrucksandcars.com states it's 9"Lx5"Wx4"H.

Here's their link: http://www.rctrucksandcars.com/catalog/ ... 777760.htm

I like them because they sorta kinda fit in with my 1/32 scale stuff.

Thanks for the link, flpickupman. It gives more detail than Geeks does.
WOW, what a difference in price too! 9.99 compared with 29.99...

No trouble at all..

At least rctucksandsuch ships em free. One Ebay seller has them for $19.99 plus $19.99 for shipping. Another enterprising individual has his for $54 Buy It Now. Free shipping naturally.

My order of 2 tanks plus shipping from Geeks was a whopping $28 and change. Image

My younger son got it. In Poland you can buy this model in the auction for 120 zl (= about 37 $) plus shipping. The scale must be really 1/30; it's a little bigger, than the 1/32 Shermans. It is a M4A3 with a lot of nice details, much more than have the FoV and Cold Steel Shermans, but with no openable hatches and with two visible (for me) errors: the muzzle-brake on the 75 mm gun (but there is a red diode in) and the machine gun on the turret (it's more similar to the German MG-34, than the 0.303 or 0.5 MGs! The realistic suspension is really great! All remote functions are very good. The box is a bit to small for this tank; so, the little search-light on the turret was broken in my son's tank, but I glued it, as described in the chapter "Help - broke landing gear". Very nice toy! :D

I received my two tanks today. Both in 27MHz. The one at home is 49MHz, so there's a battle looming in the near future. :D The one I broke out of it's box this morning seems to be even better than the tank I already had. The turret traverse is much smoother/faster on the new tank. If the second tank in the shipment is as good as this one, it'll be hard to use them for spare parts.

The track in my son's Sherman is broken... I think it is too early (two weeks!), isn't it?

Unfortunately, no. It's not too early. They are Hen Long remember? :? The same thing happened to me. That is the exact reason I bought two more this time. Spare parts. If shipping's not too expensive, check with Geeks.com. They're only $13 right now.

Thanks, Flpickupman! I suppose, the shipping from the US to Poland would be too expensive. The only profitable way for me is to buy more items in your country and I do so sometimes. But I have just received an answer from the Polish seller: about March he will offer the spare parts, including tracks! I hope they will be of better quality... And I wonder what will be their price like.

I suspect they'll just be Hen Long treads pulled from parts tanks. :? However, if you actually come across some nice aftermarket ones, please let me know. These tanks are worth a little dressing up in the track department.
