That's some pretty nice detail on a 1/72nd scale vehicle.

Yeah, this one has easily become one of my favorites. It looks like they even depicted ammunition on the interior walls (or so I think). A SP gun crew would really finish her off nicely...ya listening Dragon?

They sure did, there is ammunition stored on both side walls of the interior cabin. For a very nice gun crew, I recommend a set from AB Figures out of the UK. Their figures are metal and quite nice.

Mighty tight in that fighting compartment. I'd hate to be one of these crewmen when the gun recoiled and the casing ejected!

LOL, the figures in that picture are in a 1:76 scale Hummel so they're much tighter than they would be in the 1:72 Dragon Armor Nashorne.

Hi,
Well, they look great as does the solitary crewman pictured earlier. More importantly, I think Dragon hit a home run with this SP gun, even if it is a few dollars more than the rest of the series. I remember when a 1:50 scale Verem tank with little detail went for $35 a pop and no one barked. Here you get a great little vehicle plus a case.

On a historical note, its a wonder how these vehicles did well in battle. With an open topped turret, limited gun traverse, a cramped fighting compartment, little room for surplus ammo and a high profile, you'd think these guns would get mauled in combat. That said, Albert Ernst, profiled in Panzer Aces II, seemed to acheive wonders with these vehicles.

What type of cannon did they stick on those things? Is that an 88mm?

Yep!! The Nashorn shared the same vehicle as the 155mm armed Hummel.

Got my Hornisse today, and wow! This thing is fabulous! Got it from The Motor Pool for $17.50, because of their 15% discount. I also got the captured T-34, winter camo, which is also nice.
