Russian-Soviet helicopter black outs?

I was looking at images of the MRC Easy Model Soviet/Russian Hind and Hip helicopters. Both have black areas, the Hind on the tail, and the Hip, up on the engine housing. They seem oddly out of place as if something was painted over. I didn't notice them in other images of various models from other manufacturers. Any ideas about this? Just curious...
