Airfix 1:72 Lancaster

Post by cnq » Tue Feb 04, 2014 9:44 am

Just started to work on it and so far the fits are great. It' my fist kit from Airfix and I can't wait to finish it. I've also got couple tanker trucks to go with it as well :D . I plan to set everything up in a small dio. This would also be my first British bomber of ww2.

Looking forward to seeing it completed, cnq. :D

Corgi have done numerous Lancasters in 1/72, one of their most numerous releases, and all seem to do well. Anything from "standard" heavy bomber, Dambuster Raid, Tall Boy bomb, and Grand Slam bomb.

They are pretty good diecast models, but am sure yours will be much better.

What version are you doing?

yes I've seen the Corgi lancaster in my LHS and it looks very nice, just could not afford the price tag though. I'm building the Lancaster B.II "Z-Zombie" Royal Canadian Air Force, July 44. I'm hoping mine will turn out as nice as the Corgi one.

The Lancaster is done finally. It was a good built but I did not enjoy masking the canopy and all the little windows...There is also a re-supply/bomb set from Airfix and I may get it to complete the setup. Anyway hope you like the pics....

Well done! 8)

Looks like it's an early Lanc with radial engines. Nice work on the trucks too.

You can buy a die cast version of the blue and yellow re-fueler but not the other tanker.

I guess masking the canopies is a pain, but looks like it's worth it. I see many models posted elsewhere where they try to hand paint them. It never looks right.

Thanks ketelone & Dauntless.
Yes it's got the radial engines since it's the B.II. I've tried hand painting the canopies before but that did not come out right. Masking job is so tedious but it always works.
