1:32 Battlestar Galactica Models

Post by tmanthegreat » Wed Feb 26, 2014 8:34 pm

While this should probably go in the "Off Topic" forum, I recently ran across some cool pre-built 1:32 scale models from the Battlestar Galactica TV series made by Moebius Models. I wouldn't describe myself as a BSG fan or anything... I've only ever actually seen one episode of any of the series - and it was an episode from the original 1970s show where they went back in time to WWII Nazi Germany to investigate the German rocket technology - but always thought some of the ships, like the Viper starfighter, looked pretty cool.

Anyways, I was in my local Hobbytown USA store a couple weeks ago and saw a pre-built 1:32 scale model of a Viper Mk VII (I guess from the reboot TV series), thought it was cool from a general scifi perspective, and picked it up. I later found out Moebius made a prebuilt Viper Mk II from the original and reboot TV series, and got one from an online retailer. I rather like the looks of the Viper Mk II - it very much has a Star Wars feel to it.

Does anyone else have these? Any thoughts?

Here are several pictures:

The ships are basically models that just sit there on the stands and look cool. No functionality like retractable gear or opening cockpits. I think they are pre-built versions of the same ships in kit form. Paint apps are decent, though there is no weathering. Plastic is regular ABS molded plastic - they are a bit light and delicate. Overall, however, I'm pretty happy with them 8)

Yep, I think they are cool. I have the pre-built versions and kit versions which I haven't attempted yet. They just came out with the original series version in kit form which I picked up. The original series cylon raider comes out this month I think. . I've always been a fan of the original series so was happy they came out with these 1/32 versions :-D
