Witty/Sky Guardian Tomcats?

Post by aferguson » Wed Dec 18, 2013 9:19 pm

I purchased an Easy Model F-14 and while a nicely done model the paint job sucks big time. Plus the cockpit interior is largely in light grey and i can't get the canopy off to repaint it.

So, now i'm looking for alternatives. FOV looks lousy, Dragon so-so but i don't like the paint schmes offered, CW is way too expensive.

Then there's Witty, who i am very wary of. However, their Tomcats look pretty good. They don't have retracted under carriage option, which is a big minus but i can probably rework it to be retracted myself.

Any warnings about the Witty F-14's i should know about?

I know nothing of WW myself, but it looks like they do have optional landing gear.

A helicopter does not want to fly, it just vibrates so much that the ground rejects it

oh, that's interesting. I looked up another WW Tomcat on Flying Mule's site and it said the u/c was fixed down.

Witty started offering optional landing gear configurations a couple of years ago.

So the older models will be gear down only.

CW are the best, but very expensive these days. Dragon offer good value, with Witty being pretty close to Dragon, in my opinion. Kind of up to the individual to figure out which way they want to go.

well, i don't care for the Dragons and the Witty nose looks chubby, so i've decided to wait and see if HM releases one. It's really too bad about the Easy Model. The model itself is excellent but the paint job and cockpit colours make it unusable, in my view. I shattered the canopy of it trying to remove it to repaint the cockpit. :~
