Re: Hobby Master Jan 2012 Release List
Received a similiar email today from suppliers.
This worried meabout the Corsair; "Please note the wings cannot be folded down as this would in 1/48 scale make the working hinges look out of place".
Any idea what their talking about?
Did a piece on the Sd. Kfz. 2 and 11 on my blog.
http://www.wrightscollectables.co.uk/bl ... ndy-hg1701
Really hoping HM will have a stronger year in 2012..
/EDIT The Corsair has interchangeable wings, explains the folding wing comment!

WOW. That Kettenkrad is good news, and 1/48 is a good scale for it. I just hope FOV would have made that when they released their zundapp in 1/32 a few years ago.
I am still hoping for a 1/144 Ju-52 in the scheme of Hitler's personal plane!!

Re: Hobby Master Jan 2012 Release List
Really like the sound of that Corsair - and they choose a good scheme as well. I like their idea for "innerchangeable wings" so one can have them either folded or extended.
On the theme of the Corsair, I was just going through my 1:48 scale aircraft (diecast and plastic) and realized that there were comparatively few PTO aircraft, particularly from the US. My plastic 21c 1:48 Hellcat, P-40, and P-51B were among the few... I know there's been some fancy 1:48 diecast Zeros, etc.

Re: Hobby Master Jan 2012 Release List
It is good news for fans of the Corsair, including myself, who wants to have at least one in their collection with folded wings, only one I know of in the diecast market is Dragon's 1/72 "Skipper's Orchid" which I read online is an absolute king of fiddly bits nightmare to assemble.
I have quite a few Dragon and Corgi Corsairs in the popular schemes including the Corgi Ira Kepford "JR" and I love them all dearly, but I would consider getting a HM one just for the folded wing feature, just not sure if to get a scheme I already have or wait it out for a scheme I do not, which I'm not sure if HM gonna do this interchangeable wings for all future releases.
Looks like HM is slowly but surely expanding on their 1/48 portfolio, I believe in time they will probably do a Hurricane, ME-109G, Komet, P-38, Zero/Frank/Oscar
This 3-ton halftrack is used to tow 88s? Is HM gonna do the 88?
The kettenkrad is cool but what about figures for it? it'll look kinda naked without some germans. I do not think figure sculpts are HM's strongest trait so will other brands fill in the gap?

Re: Hobby Master Jan 2012 Release List
To answer the first question; This 3-ton halftrack is used to tow 88s? Is HM gonna do the 88?
I have never seen a record of an Sd. Kfz. 11 towing an 88mm, it seems to have been restricted to 105mm field howitzer, 75mm PaK and 37mm FlaK guns. I have also seen one towing a nebelwerfer. However, late in the war when vehicles became scarcer, the Wehrmacht would have tried anything.
The second question;
This has been discussed before. In short, everyone hopes so, but no one knows.

Re: Hobby Master Jan 2012 Release List
the previous Sdkfz.7 LW would be a mover for a LW 8.8cm FlaK
this a WH 3 ton mover, so a 10.5cm le FH 18 would be most common for 1939.

Re: Hobby Master Jan 2012 Release List
Fantastic to see HM do the F-4U Corsair in 1/48.
They really are expanding their 1/48 line, and a 1/48 Hurricane seems to be a certainty as well.
Great to see the Corsair done in 1/48 by HM, as the only other examples are in 1/72, or a few 21C 1/32. Franklin Mint did the Corsair in 1/48, but definitely not as good as the examples from Corgi, etc.
The Aussies are excited about another F-111, but I have 6 of these already, and will hold off for something that is different to what I already have.
I am in for several 1/48 Corsairs, as I just love the looks and lines of this iconic fighter. Boyington for sure.
