P40 canopy fit question
I bought the RAF P 40 today.Over all looks good.My question Is the canopy that loose on all the planes?Mine just kinda sits there and if I slide it back it goes right off the plane.Plus I can just lift the canopy off when it is closed.Thank you for any info Kim

I had the same problem. Take my advice: DO NOT HEAT IT UP TOO MUCH!!
I ruined my canopy. I heated water up in a coffee cup for about a minute and a half in the Mocrowave and dropped the canopy in after it was heated. (I know, I was asking for it) The canopy curled up and became so warped it wasn't useable anymore. It also made the clear plastic really foggy. Luckly I had a canopy from a broken Sky Captain P40 and repainted it to match and this one worked out. Be careful when heating it up.

I did the heating and cooling trick using tap water. I certainly wouldnt recommend "power" heating water for this. I ran the tap water as hot as it would go(about 100 degrees cooler than boiling) and gently sqeezed the edges towards each other. I did it for about 25 seconds then I switched the faucet over to the cold side. It didnt seem like the canopy changed one bit, but when I put it back on my P40, it held tightly in place in both the open and closed position as well as sliding back and forth as intended. I did this on my brand new RAF P40 which I just found at WM yesterday. I also added a parachute to the pilot`s aft to help him see over the dash...
