HM released just a few 1/48 vehicles. I think the sales didn't go well and the whole line was abandoned about 5 years ago. Recently 1/48 Ground Armor has been resurrected with the release of 1/48 Kubelwagen and announcement of 1/48 Sdkfz 222 scheduled for May.

The 1/48 scale is uncommon and largely under appreciated. A great shame really, coz these vehicles are a decent chunk of metal and look great with very good detail, which is much better pronounced and sharper, even than 1/72 Dragon. These are also great value, as most of them are obtainable @$25.

Cheers

Luke

STORMYTHOUGHTS:

That's what I thought. I have the HM 1/48 King Tiger-Peiper, and I'm looking for the HM King Tiger-Dollinger.
I've never understood why collectors didn't buy HM's 1/48 armor, but they do buy the tiny 1/72 armor.

I agree with you both on this subject this HM line is very good is true that 1/48 scale is largely unapreciated but a serious couple of early/late TIGER 1 would change a lot of minds in my opinion

Oh no! Not another Tiger! (joke)

HM's 1/48 King Tigers are brilliant, for this kind of money U can't go wrong. As for Tiger I, the Tamiya ones are fantastic, and with metal hull. They have released 5 of them, all early including one Africa model and all are top notch.

Thanks for the tip Stormy

Never knew about these tamiya 1/48, that jagdpanther is lookin sweet 8)

I've got a HM Dollinger KT and it is superb, I would be happy if HM decides to resurrect the KT, hopefully the kubel and 222 does very well to convince them 1/48 is a-ok

Tamiya started their 1/48 pre-built line about 6 years ago (same as Dragon). These are based on Tamias 1/48 kits, and detail wise are obviously exquisite, much better than any 1/72 range. First 27 models have metal lower hull. Every piece have note on production run number, which never exceed 600. That makes the earlier models extremely hard to obtain and quite pricey (but not as expensive as K&C or CS, though) I have to admit that Tamiya is very consistent when it comes to price, from the beginning it's around 50 bucks per piece, but considering the quality and the fact that Tamiya releases no more than 5-7 yearly, its not that bad. Usually U can still google some of them @$30 in some asian shops. I have got 21, and think of them as gem of my collection.

White Stug (26507) IMO absolutely one of the finest pre-built vehicles of all times

This guy has some rare pieces, but consequently refuses to ship outside Itlay, so it might be for You ;)
