Phoenix Models - New 1/72 Diecast Brand?

Post by gouchy » Fri Nov 12, 2010 1:41 am

Just happened to catch a glimpse of this Phoenix Models brand on Flying Mule

1/72 Aero Vodochody L-39C Albatross - Czech Jet Team

Diecast/plastic made, pad-print markings, metal display stand, pilot figures and Fixed landing gear with rotating wheels. $70 listed price is pretty stiff

Never heard of the plane or the company, no mention either on Diecast Hangar Pub. Anyone know about this?

These guys have been around for some time in the civilian airlines model business and have been getting their feet wet with Vampire and Hunter jet fighters, it seems on a commission basis. The Albatross model that the Mule is selling may be their first more widely distributed effort, though the decision to leave off the panel lines is, in my opinion, a huge mistake.

Thanks for the info Epap :D

Agree with you on the panel lines, there is room for improvement. Also would be great if landing gear are not fixed.

L-39 is an interesting and unexpected subject to see, bodes well for the hobby if more companies are as brave as Phoenix and release something other then the usual Nato jets or WW2 classic planes.

Had a Mig-23 to look forward to from Red Falcon but that has been sadly and disappointingly put on ice
