Hobby Master 1/48th scale P-51D Mustang.

Post by Sabrefan » Mon Feb 08, 2010 2:20 pm

I am really excited to see Hobby Master will make a 1/48th scale P-51D Mustang. I have been hoping for a nice Mustang in this scale, and I can think of no one better to make it than Hobby Master. This is HA7701, "Feeble Eagle" 353rd FS, 354 FG 1945, Lt. Col. Glenn Eagleston.

It's been a long road, but I am still in the game. :)

That's great news. I just wish somebody... anybody..., would make a Hawker Typhoon (or Tempest) in any scale larger than 1/72 that's not a kit.. :? Considering that this aircraft was recognized as one of the most effective, if not THE most effective ground attack/close air support aircraft of WWII, I have always been somewhat puzzled that little attention has been given to this bird in the pre-built/painted market, and to be honest there are not all that many kits available either, at least in the 1/32 and larger category.

That is great news indeed! I've been patiently waiting for a more accurate rendition of the 'D' in 48th scale, and HM was my first choice to deliver it in spades. I would also love to see these schemes in future releases. 8)

Good to see Hobby Master expanding its 1/48 line.

A good scale for collectors like myself, who think that 1/72 single engined fighters are just too small.

With the demise of Caruosel,Eagles International, and apparently Franklin Mint, there is a void in 1/48.

And there is no company I would rather see doing this than Hobby Master.
They provide a great balance between quality, and value.

I agree, especially for fighter sized aircraft. This is one reason I didn't spring for the Corgi 1/72 Typhoon, even though it's a hair over 5" in length, it's just too small to adequately show detail in my opinion. It's a shame too, because they have a nice lineup of paint schemes.
