New Ray 1:32 Helicopters
Anybody have the 1:32 New Ray Sea King or Apache helicopters? http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/item_de ... RAY61465-2
This seems to be the only pre-painted 1:32 military whirly-birds offered.
Also saw they made a 1:34 CH-46 (Sea Knight) or Chinook. http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/item_de ... W-RAY25897

I have the 1/32 Apache sold as a kit under the Testors brand. It's not bad. Exposed screws and no crew, but there's not much else available in 1/32. You can still find these at Michael's craft stores.

I saw one of those Testors kits in Hobby Lobby, but it was a Coast Guard chopper.
I wonder, that Sea Knight must be huge at 1:34, which is a tad closer to 1:32.
Sure would be nice to be able to drive a Bravo Team Stryker or Hummer in or out of the back cargo hatch if there is one.
The display possibilities of this chopper have me watering at the mouth.
Sure wish it was an olive drab Sea King instead of the Airforce or Navy one.
You could do some tasty Vietnam stuff.

I dont have the Apache, but I have the Navy Sea King (NAS JAX) and the Marine Sea Knight. The Sea King is pretty big, but the main rotor is hard to put together. When you spin the blades they often times will rotate on the connection point to the rotor hub and get all messed up. But it's a pretty impressive heli. The Sea Knight is awesome, I love it so much! Comes with a nice stand, it's die cast and built well. The same problem with the Sea King's rotors I have with the Sea Knight. But another nice feature about the Sea Knight is that the back cargo ramp lowers. It's the best modern CH-46 Sea Knight I've seen.

Ditto, this is where I bought mine. With some paint, decals and weathering it doesn't look too bad if you display in profile with the screw hole side away from you.digimatt wrote:I have the 1/32 Apache sold as a kit under the Testors brand. I didn't think the Sea Knight was true 1/32 scale. Am I incorrect?

I'd like to know too on those windows. Painted would be cheezy. I'll bet P-51 knows he's got one.
The link to 3000 Toys says the Sea Knight is 1:34 and the Sea King and Apache (the latter which I've seen now at hobby retail) is 1:32.
They also make a Sea Knight in 1:55, if that's the confusion in scales.

Well, I took receipt of my order from 3000TOYS. I thought I was ordering 1/32 and 1/34 helicopters. More specifically the CH-46 Sea Knight and SH-3D Sea King.
The CH-46 is 1/55 scale.
The SH-3D is contained in a box that reflects: 1/32 scale, but the product represents 1/40 scale. It's a great product but not true to scale.
I'm going to keep the SH-3D but the CH-46 will be returned.
I left a message for TOYS3000 on Friday, 3-20-09, evening and I'm still awaiting a call back.
I've dealt with this company before and they have always stood behind their offerings.
