Dragon 1/35 to King & country 1/30

Post by AMERICAN_GRENADIER » Thu Feb 26, 2009 3:38 pm

does anyone have some dragon 1/35 tanks and some k&C in thier collection?
if so how does the size compare?
i would like to add some K&C to my collection since they have such a great selection of rarely done german vehicles.

* Well , I can tell you that K & C is significantly bigger , but not that much noticeable w/ 1:32nd.

The King & Country tank cost a lot more & is a lot bigger but for the money the detail is very poor next to the Dragon king tiger , for the same price as the K&C king tiger I got the FOV 1/16 king tiger !

oooh one of my favourite rants.

K&C vehicles and scale , first the scale varies even amongst the K&C range but they will all look shit alongside dragon armour.

In general I think K&C figures are a little cartoony and not really my cup of tea, however it is only the scale (1/30 as opposed to 1/32) that stops me buying many of them otherwise the figures are generally very good indeed.

There are many collectors out there that see K&C as the best but for me there like the world war 2 equivalent of disney, charicatures of excellent subjects.

Note the differance between 1/30 and 1/32 is fairly pronounced the difference between 1/30 and 1/35 is massive.

K&C vehicles actually vary in scale. Some of their vehicles are even larger than 1/30 in my opinion. On the other hand some of their vehicles are closer to 1/32. For instance the K&C Citroen cars, one is a Gestapo vehicle while the other is a staff car, are more 1/32 than 1/30. The British ambulance in North Africa camo is larger than 1/30. Overall, K&C are vastly larger than Dragon. The K&C would definitely dwarf the Dragon. Even the K&C Chevy 2 1/2 ton truck dwarfs the FOV 2 1/2 ton truck.

I just wish Dragon would bring out a lot more 1/35 armour because at the moment not much new stuff is coming out beside the command tiger

Learn to assemble some DRagon kits and the world opens up! Dragon has produced a great series of kits and the new stuff is superb.

As far as 1/35th with 1/32nd scale and 1/30th scale, remember that the difference is not just the 10%, but the CUBE of the difference as models are 3 dimensional. That makes a King and Country tank IMMENSE compared to a 1/35th model.

in general anything over 4% size difference is quite noticable. The difference between a 1/24 scale car and a 1/25 scale car. Doesn't sound like much but put them side by side and you can see a very noticable difference.

The difference between 1/30 and 1/35 is about 14%.....extreme. In human terms that's the difference between a six foot man and a 6 foot 10 man.

Avoiding duplicating the same subjects in the two scales will help mask the scale difference a bit so you could get away with 6 or 7% or so and not probably be too aware of the difference. But 14% is whopping.

And i agree....i think k&c is very over rated. Some people are all ga-ga about them but i think for the most part the vehicles, while nice are lacking in finess and the figures do look like disney made them. The only good thing about k&c is the choice of subjects they make.
